Re: Any experience with Community Fibre? Reliable? Or price too good to be true?

As another disenchanted former VM 'customer', I ditched them and went for CF about a year ago. Installation was quick and professional. The quality of the gear supplied is excellent, and the speed has been reliable. Oddly,  they don't provide email addresses but that is no huge burden. VM terminate ...

Grocery deliveries

Hi all After I received my Gov.UK text last night instructing me to stay indoors, I decided to plan ahead and book a grocery delivery with my usual supplier, Tesco. They are displaying only 3 weeks' worth of delivery slots,  all full.  Nearest click & collect is New Malden,  4 miles away.  Does ...

Re: Repair/restore front door

Hi, we went to Juno Glass in Earlsfield for replacement leaded glass panels - they can supply double glazed if need be - and the London Door Company fitted them into a replacement door for us. London Door Company's prices are eyewatering but the build quality is excellent.

Re: Sri Lanka with kids at Christmas

Although Sri Lanka is not a large island, the state of the roads and the heavy traffic means that day-trips to tourist attractions can be lengthy and tiring. Most travellers tend to hire driver-guides for multi-stop tour who will accompany you for the whole trip. There is lots of information availab...

Re: Wandsworth council fines

Thanks for the heads-up. I'm disappointed but not surprised at the response of the police and the council. The answer to crime prevention now seems to be DIY. If there are any local CCTVs see if you can get access to the footage. Do you have a neighbourhood watch group who could take turns keeping a...

Re: More peopled voted for parties supporting a 2nd referendum, than voted for parties in favour of Brexit.

This is extraordinary.  This poster is behaving exactly like the Labour party.  If the result is wrong it's not the strategy or ideas that were wrong,  it's that the voters simply didn't understand so they have to be nagged until they get it right. PR has been decided. Brexit has been decided. Most ...

Re: How I’m voting to Labour to Remain in Battersea and why I’ve done a tactical vote swap to help the Lib Dems.

All I can say is,  it is to be hoped that a decisive result tomorrow will silence the moaners on this site for good,  and that they will learn to respect the verdict of the majority in a democratic society.

Re: SWAP MY VOTE is finally LIVE - Tactical voting and vote swapping could give us a Remain Parliament

Historically, the LibDem brigade have voted that way out of conviction with an actual election result coming as a bonus. The educated middle-class hover between Labour (virtuous but profligate) and Tory (cold-hearted but sensible). The current choice seems to be between Boris (incompetent and dishon...

Re: How I’m voting to Labour to Remain in Battersea and why I’ve done a tactical vote swap to help the Lib Dems.

Over the last three years I have not met a single person who has changed his or her mind about the merits of leaving the EU.  Everyone without exception has become more entrenched.  On forums like this, invitations for 'other people's opinions' are usually thinly disguised attempts to provoke an arg...

Re: Adjacent to a Council owned property

Housing association properties are by no means the only risks for disturbance. Living in a city always requires consideration to and from neighbours. Council tenants can be just as accommodating as owner-occupiers. Properties owned by remote landlords and rented out on illegal short-let Airbnb deals...

Re: Review - Fixxa

It is irritating to see how many so-called blatant adverts posing as so-called 'reviews' are being posted on this site. Checking back through the 'reviewer's' earlier posts will show exactly what they use the site for.

Doubt very much if the RM would have delivered letters with fake stamps.  No UK contact details for the company either.

Nextdoor.co.uk

I wonder whether anyone has recent experience of this website.  Letters are now being distributed in the Southfields area purporting to have been sent by named neighbours nearby.  The envelopes have fake 2nd class stamps. The letters say the purpose of the website is for neighbours to share local in...

Re: Secondary schools

It would be worthwhile getting hold of a booklet called 'Choose a Wandsworth secondary school' from the town hall.  This will list all the schools' distinct admission criteria,  as well as the threshold distances for last year's successful applicants. It will also list the number of applicants for e...
