We also have what looks. like moths, flying insects everywhere with brown wings but they don't seem to do anything, i.e. I haven't seen any visible damage. Maybe not yet??? 

It started about 4 months ago and there are now more of them.

That's great that you have these options. We don't have food waste bins in our area unfortunately.  The amount of things that go into the non-recyclable waste is what I was talking about mostly and everyday items that we all use. They end up in the landfill and these are the ones that we need to red...
