Re: Successful prosecution of local man for repeated dog fouling between the commons - hurrah! but is the fine enough?

Yes, thanks @Windmill26, it is a great idea, though sadly I have a feeling it isn't one which can be decided at borough level, though I'll enquire. On this occasion, the offender in question being somewhat elderly and frail-looking, I doubt it would have been an appropriate solution but for others, ...

Successful prosecution of local man for repeated dog fouling between the commons - hurrah! but is the fine enough?

So, some of you might remember a post a while back about dog fouling between the commons. Large numbers of us are utterly sick of it and feel more needs to be done to reduce it. Well, a lady posted some video from her home CCTV of a man allowing his dog to foul on Mallinson Road (incidentally, the ...

Re: Waste Matters Meeting/Tonight

Thanks for posting. I'm going to pop in just to ask if the borough has any powers to make separating recycling mandatory. I think it's ridiculous that many people can't be bothered to put paper, glass, mixed recyclables in one bin and the rest in another.

Re: What do people think about the Electoral Commission report today about collusion (cheating) of the Leave campaign?

Oh Parsley Song you’ve outdone yourself with this most recent comment. Is your mention of ‘social housing’ intended as a slur? Are we to believe that social housing tenants are somehow lesser human beings than private renters or owner occupiers? We live in an Edwardian terrace and are lucky enough t...

Re: What do people think about the Electoral Commission report today about collusion (cheating) of the Leave campaign?

Thanks to all those who made sensible comments on this post. It’s always a pleasure to see leavers allergic to facts being schooled by those with the ability to support their views with evidence. It would also seem our community very much believes a further vote is the only way out of this, an opin...

Re: What do people think about the Electoral Commission report today about collusion (cheating) of the Leave campaign?

If Vote leave’s appeal fails then there’s no doubt they broke the law and the result is illegitimate. This isn’t sore losing fgs, it’s our democracy being subverted by cheating, the result cannot stand. I agree with the earlier poster that the only way to change it is to declare it void, extend arti...

What do people think about the Electoral Commission report today about collusion (cheating) of the Leave campaign?

Well this is getting interesting isn't it?  The report is here but I'll give you a precis to save you reading it. Vote Leave, Leave EU, Darren Grimes, Matthew Elliot and many others, cheated and then repeatedly lied or attempted to evade the Commission's enquiry. Gove and Johnson were at daily brief...

Two bed garden flat available to rent for 1 week in August (12-18th) on Geraldine road

Technically, it's actually available for 6 nights from lunchtime 12th August til the afternoon/evening of the 18th. Our flat has quite a few quirks as to how everything works, so we'd much prefer to rent it to someone who can come round and see it advance of their stay, so thought we'd see if anyone...

Cricket teams on Wandsworth Common or Wandsworth Park - need an extra player occasionally?

Hello everyone, I'm looking for a new cricket team to play the odd Saturday afternoon or evening T20 game. Do any of you (or your other halves) play on Wandsworth Common or Wandsworth Park and perhaps occasionally need an extra player? Nothing special but have been known to clear the ropes now and a...

Please sign this petition for a People's vote on the Brexit deal - Thanks to all who marched, what a brill day!

Thanks to everyone who marched on Parliament on Saturday. I was perched on a phone box for the whole thing and at least 300k came past me, and people had travelled from all over the country, showing the enormous strength of feeling. It was a wonderful atmosphere of hope and resolve, that we can stop...

Please join the march to Parliament Sq to demand a People’s Vote & protect our children’s future - This Sat 23rd June!

Well, it certainly hasn’t been a dull couple of weeks where Brexit's concerned, and those who believe it will be a calamity, can be very encouraged at recent events. That’s not to say there hasn’t also been some shameful behaviour among our politicians and the public, sometimes so egregious as to ma...

Re: Please sign and share this petition to help save au pairing from the threats of Brexit

Thanks for this post. I wonder if the fact that Brexit threatens the supply of au pairs might shake SW London remainers out of their collective apathy and begin to use their voice to oppose it. It seems many people are just hoping that Brexit will collapse under the weight of its own contradictions,...

Re: Local group of parents and kids going to the Peoples Vote on Brexit March on Saturday June 23rd - please join us.

Just spotted this - if you have family or friends coming from out of town for the march, a load of different regional Pro-EU groups will be organising coaches, making it a great deal cheaper to get to London for the day. https://www.peoples-vote.uk/transport If anyone has friends who need accommodat...
