Has anyone used Under the doormat or Veeve for renting out their home when on holiday?

How did you find the quality of service? Did it give you greater peace of mind than using Airbnb? Did you feel the fees were reasonable? Perhaps you called them in for a quote but didn’t sign up..? Are there any other managed homestay outfits that you’d recommend? If anyone might be willing to spar...

Re: STOLEN COFFEE BIKE FROM BALHAM, RANSOM REQUEST FROM THIEVES - HELP NEEDED AND REWARD OFFERED

I really hope you get your bike back soon. Forgive me if this is a silly question but if you have video footage, why don't you post it here to see if anyone recognises the perps? Someone might recognise voice or clothes etc and could provide their info anonymously to help find the bike and bring a p...

Chance to meet our MP Marsha de Cordova at the Alma Pub (by Wandsworth Town station) on Thursday 18th October

I'm sure there will lots of questions about Labour's position on Brexit, as well as concerns about the NHS, social care and universal credit, but for me, the biggest story of the week is this. https://www.opendemocracy.net/uk/brexitinc/james-cusick-adam-ramsay/met-police-stall-brexit-campaign-inves...

Re: "Bollocks to Brexit" Billboard at Clapham Junction station

I met Charlie Mullins at a Wandsworth enterprise week event a while back, he's a real character, and I LOVE that he's using some of his cash to campaign in this way (kudos to the media owner with the balls to agree that creative too, I'd imagine many would've bottled it) and I hope hundreds of thous...

Re: People’s Vote March Saturday 20th October - please come along and make this huge! Brexit can still be stopped

Thanks so much for your comment AtBattersea, I agree with 99% of what you say. ‘Heads turned’ is exactly right and when you consider that a key element of this turning were social media campaigns (based on stolen data) that were downright lies – Turkey about to join the EU – and played on the worst...

Rear-facing Britax child car seat that swivels - bought for £340, asking £100 - safest on the market, suitable 0-4 years

Bought for £340, approx 4 years old, chosen because it was deemed the safest on the market. Swivels so can face both ways, and also means getting child in and out of the car is really quick and easy, it has served us really well. Needs one new part (dualfix headrest impact insert) which is £12.99 fr...

People’s Vote March Saturday 20th October - please come along and make this huge! Brexit can still be stopped

People’s Vote March Saturday 20th October Given it’s only a couple of weeks away, I thought I’d alert you all to the fact there’s another March for a People’s Vote to Parliament Square on Saturday 20th October. https://www.peoples-vote.uk/march We have been, as a family with young children, to both...

Please support installation of cricket nets on Wandsworth Common

Does anyone think it would be great for our community to have some cricket nets on Wandsworth Common? If Clapham Common and Battersea Park can, why not us lot in SW18/SW17? After all, we have loads of kids keen on cricket if the number of people I see playing in Wandsworths’ parks is anything to go ...

Re: Successful prosecution of local man for repeated dog fouling between the commons - hurrah! but is the fine enough?

Oh PS, it seems you've edited your post and removed the assertion that 'only 5 people will read' my post, well here's some news for you. It was (as of now), viewed 1030 times and I've been thanked by two people, so I'm quite happy with that  😃  Added to which, I'm perfectly aware that it's the choic...

Re: Successful prosecution of local man for repeated dog fouling between the commons - hurrah! but is the fine enough?

Yes, thanks @Windmill26, it is a great idea, though sadly I have a feeling it isn't one which can be decided at borough level, though I'll enquire. On this occasion, the offender in question being somewhat elderly and frail-looking, I doubt it would have been an appropriate solution but for others, ...

Successful prosecution of local man for repeated dog fouling between the commons - hurrah! but is the fine enough?

So, some of you might remember a post a while back about dog fouling between the commons. Large numbers of us are utterly sick of it and feel more needs to be done to reduce it. Well, a lady posted some video from her home CCTV of a man allowing his dog to foul on Mallinson Road (incidentally, the ...

Re: Waste Matters Meeting/Tonight

Thanks for posting. I'm going to pop in just to ask if the borough has any powers to make separating recycling mandatory. I think it's ridiculous that many people can't be bothered to put paper, glass, mixed recyclables in one bin and the rest in another.

Re: What do people think about the Electoral Commission report today about collusion (cheating) of the Leave campaign?

Oh Parsley Song you’ve outdone yourself with this most recent comment. Is your mention of ‘social housing’ intended as a slur? Are we to believe that social housing tenants are somehow lesser human beings than private renters or owner occupiers? We live in an Edwardian terrace and are lucky enough t...

Re: What do people think about the Electoral Commission report today about collusion (cheating) of the Leave campaign?

Thanks to all those who made sensible comments on this post. It’s always a pleasure to see leavers allergic to facts being schooled by those with the ability to support their views with evidence. It would also seem our community very much believes a further vote is the only way out of this, an opin...

Re: What do people think about the Electoral Commission report today about collusion (cheating) of the Leave campaign?

If Vote leave’s appeal fails then there’s no doubt they broke the law and the result is illegitimate. This isn’t sore losing fgs, it’s our democracy being subverted by cheating, the result cannot stand. I agree with the earlier poster that the only way to change it is to declare it void, extend arti...
