Wraparound extension - how many metres

We are contemplating a side return for our house, which is a typical Victorian terrace off Northcote Road.  Someone recommended a “wraparound extension” and that we could extend out by 3 metres under permitted development. Does anyone know if this is indeed the case? I don’t see any houses that have...

Can anyone recommend a Surveyor

I’ve bought a house in Balham but it needs some work (side return mainly, possibly loft. Can anyone recommend a surveyor who can help with relevant architectural/structural drawings etc that I can submit to the planners? Ideally one that won’t cost the Earth. I know exactly what I want done and it’s...

Re: How do I find an Au Pair?

Interesting. I didn't realist that.. I've had lots of interest of late from some of the usual au pair websites so presumably they're all proposing to work illegally?

Re: Holy Ghost Catholic Primary, Balham

I had children there up until recently. It is phenomenal. Academics sound, punches well above its weight in sport with an extremely passionate sports mistress, given its size and the fact that it is non fee paying. Parents very engaged. Exceptionally well funded and governed. Wonderful head is leavi...

Re: Newton Prep, Belleville (Meteor) and Heathbrook

I am sure someone will come along to flame me for this but.. have a look at the proportion of free school meals (pupil premium) at Heathbrook (37.5%); it is a good indicator of why it doesn't feature among the folks who can afford NP fees.

How do I find an Au Pair?

Just that really; not having much luck with Au Pair world; it seems ghosting is a thing these days, not just on Tinder!

If anyone has any good suggestions of where they found Au Pairs, I'd be very grateful.

Re: Would you want to know if your partner had an affair?

Your question and your motivation for telling her seem to be two very different things. You've been hurt by this guy and you want to get back at him. You are trying to justify telling her by having a group of strangers on the internet tell you that she'd want to know and you'd be doing the right thi...

Re: I want a home birth but husband against. How do I get unbiased information?

"It is simply not true that you are putting your child at risk by having a homebirth as long as you have had a normal pregnancy and have not been advised against it because of a serious issue." The above statement can't possibly be true. 98% of women won't have a problem - per the above st...

Re: ADHD supportive primary school?

Absolutely 100% Ravenstone in Balham.
Their SEN provision (inc ADHD) is brilliant.
This is anecdotal as I don't have a child there but I've heard it from several parents.
That headmaster will be one of the superheads of the future, mark my words.

Re: Any insight on Belleville Wix Academy?

I think Wix has come on tremendously since the English stream head too over. The teachers are dedicated and enthusiastic. The provision during the first lockdown was deplorable but things improved during the second. The curriculum isn’t broad enough in KS2 but they’re working on it.  I do think the ...
