Re: 41 weeks pregnant - baby not engaged!

St. George's normal policy is to induce at 42 weeks (assuming it hasn't changed). However, I've been induced there twice at 41+3. Both times I asked to be induced 'early' because i was concerned about waiting until 42 weeks and they were fine with that. Not sure if you've been induced before, but in...

Re: Strong curtain tracks for bay windows

We have one from revamp and have had nothing but problems with it, so be careful! They've not been very helpful about it either - saying they'll charge us to come and look at it.

Re: Advice needed: my toddler hits other children

Sounds like you're handling it well to me. In case it's of any reassurance - one of my daughter's friends was a 'biter' when younger, but he grew out of it and is a lovely child who is very popular. None of the kids he used to bite seem to remember and it hasn't affected their friendships. They're 3...

Re: jellycat pudding pig wanted desperately!

Unhelpfully I can't remember the website, but in a similar situation I was told about a website that stocks discontinued jelly cats, which turned out to be brilliant. Post mark, the tiny card shop in Balham told me about it, so it might be worth asking in there.

Re: Visiting Buckingham Palace with kids - tihoughts?

We went to Changing of the Guard last week and it was VERY busy. My daughter (who is 3) charmed her way to the front and stood with some very kind American tourists by the railings. The rest of us couldn't see a thing because so many people were standing on the railings. We got there 45 mins early a...

Re: Potty training a girl - we are stuck...

There's a book called Princess Polly's Potty which we (and friends we've since passed it on to) found helpful to take away some of the fear of actually using the potty/loo. Might be worth a go.

Re: Due this week - too late to get a Doula?

Polly Hand is a chiropractor in Balham who is also a doula. She's lovely, so it might be worth giving her a call to discuss. I'm sure she'd speak to you about the role of a doula. If you google her I think her details will come up. Giving birth is obviously quite daunting, but you will be fine with ...

Re: Nurseries - full time slots, cost per month

It's worth speaking to a few nurseries as they'll all differ. It's a good time of year to be looking as there is usually movement around Sept due to start of school year, which has a knock on effect with kids moving up classes at nursery. That said some nurseries have LONG waiting lists, so it's bes...

Re: Recommendations for buggy

If I was doing it all again I'd get the latest bugaboo bee - the one with a carrycot option. It's a great small, lightweight buggy and looks nice. The only reason I didn't choose it when I was looking was because at that time it didn't have a carrycot and I wanted my babies to lie completely flat fo...

Re: Out n About Nipper 360 double buggy for sale

Clemmie, it seems to be 176cm, so maybe isn't what you're after. I thought it was a V3 as not that old... You're welcome to come and have a look.

Re: Private gynae/specialist to rule out breast cancer?

I've been to St G's breast centre (the Rose Centre I think it's called) and they're very good. It's in a separate building from the main hospital so you get a sense of privacy.
