Re: Homebase and B&Q near Wandsworth Town railway station face wrecking ball

I don't know the exact date but it can only be a week or so away now - they have huge "Closing down sale" banners all over it and the stock is rapidly going

Coronavirus Supermarket Etiquette???

Hi all, doing a supermarket shop I find most people are responsible and considerate, keeping the required 2 meter distance in queues and in the aisles. However; Whenever I see someone browsing in a section I want to visit I stand and wait for them to leave before moving in and picking what I want - ...

Opinions Please! - Is replacing our only household bath with a shower a good idea?

Hi all really interested in your opinions. We have a downstairs utility room with a loo/shower cubicle /hand basin and and upstairs family bathroom with a bath with Mira shower at one end (plus loo and basin) I can't remember the last time I had a bath instead of a shower - and my husbands reckons h...

Re: Beware - Balham Waitrose Scammers !

Looks similar to a man who approached me in Northcote road some months ago - speaking french - asking where he could buy a parking ticket. We were 10 meters from a machine and when I directed him to it he pulled a bunch of £50 notes (at least £500 worth)  :o   and comically, tried to feed one into t...

Re: Northcote Village?

"Northcote Village"???

Sounds pure Estate-Agentese to me

Estate Agents have been kicking around (with their pointy shoes)  "Abbeville Village" for decades but it's seldom, if ever,  referred to as such outside of their branches!  😆

Re: Amazon scam warning: 'Hang up immediately' say police

They are persistent too.

I had several calls over the space of three weeks, I got so fed up I challenged the human "handler" that he was a scam. expecting him to hang up, but he casually defended himself and insisted he wasn't - brazen!

Re: Specialist coffee emporiom opens on Bellevue Road

As I said it was a 12oz (large) and you're right - with alternative milk. However I'm not comparing it with a small (8oz) with milk and I'm not comparing it with Fred's cafe and his instant coffee! No I'm comparing it with other local independent sellers of "premium" coffee and , believe or not, som...

Re: Specialist coffee emporiom opens on Bellevue Road

Thank you Kirstie's Mum but I do know the value of good coffee as I was comparing with F&J and De Rosier who use quality blends and prepare it properly - perhaps I should have said Monmouth in Covent Garden whose 12oz Latte is still cheaper than Bonsai...  ... I wasn't comparing it to Fred's Cafe an...

Re: Specialist coffee emporiom opens on Bellevue Road

Went yesterday for a takeaway latte. I agree, good coffee, nice staff However my latte was £3.50 for a 12oz cup which I thought was a bit steep considering F&J's price is £3.10 and DeRosier also £3.10 .... Considering , as a base comparison (not as good) Pret a Manger charge £2.50 I would class Bons...

Maybe after the election you could post how many votes you managed to swap and what the outcome in the relevant constituencies was (ie what impact it had).

Yes love to read that!

Re: SWAP MY VOTE is finally LIVE - Tactical voting and vote swapping could give us a Remain Parliament

Historically, the LibDem brigade have voted that way out of conviction with an actual election result coming as a bonus. The educated middle-class hover between Labour (virtuous but profligate) and Tory (cold-hearted but sensible). The current choice seems to be between Boris (incompetent and disho...

That's not a problem for me - as a coffee "nut"  😄

However I do love to pop into F&J for their excellent light lunches and breakfasts

Re: Hefty court fine for man who claimed he was immune from planning laws

Agree!

Actually, before we came to NV we viewed a house in Barnes that had a similar structure in the next door neighbours garden...I was in the garden and saw the neighbour peering down on me , 10 feet up, on the top of his "shack"...needless to say we didn't buy!
