Re: Yet another mugging on St John’s Road

These muggings have seem to have increased lately with the same M.O. I witnessed two unmarked police cars stop a group of about 6 youths on Bqttersea Rise outside Hawkins Forge about 8pm on Friday 12th January - very dramatic as the two cars mounted the pavement each side of the group to cut of thei...

Re: Happy New Year! New on CJI: Skyscrapers in London: The Time of Greenwashing

Very interesting - label a building as being "Super green" and you can get away with murder it seems!

Re: Crime due to LTN

During the disastrous Covid LTN that plagued the Beechcroft Road that bordered Trinity Road south of Wandsworth Common, crime rose considerably. The area was subject to roaming gangs of teenagers on (stolen?) scooters as well as a number on (borrowed?) e-bikes. They could whizz through the planter r...

Re: Happy Christmas, not "Happy Holidays" please!

The use of Xmas for Christmas dates back hundreds of years - X is for the Greek letter Chi which is the first letter of Christ in Greek. It’s not just modern people being lazy. Good point that I didn't realise :D Another point; "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year" is a well rounded and ...

Re: SCAM WARNING - Please Read

I always insist that our kids annotate a "desperate need for funds" message with the name of our cat to verify - something like "HELP I NEED A TOP UP AND MY PHONES BROKE _ TIDDLES" Lucky they've never had to send me one in real life. I have received a couple of scam texts without...

Re: Happy Christmas, not "Happy Holidays" please!

Interesting. I am not religious as such but always cringe if I see the phrases "Happy Holidays" , or worse "Tis the Season" (ugh!) since they are horrible "Americanisations" of our English language. Also the substitution of "Xmas" for Christmas makes me cringe...

Re: Further Restrictions for Traffic on Wandsworth Bridge / Wandsworth Bridge Road - A Nightmare for Wandsworth Resident

"Reduced air pollution better for our health" So why is H&F Council "encouraging" all-day traffic jams of idling traffic from the Wandsworth Roundabout all the way to New Kings Road? Why is H&F Council "encouraging" traffic to detour 6 to 8 miles burning much mo...

Re: Further Restrictions for Traffic on Wandsworth Bridge / Wandsworth Bridge Road - A Nightmare for Wandsworth Resident

You can turn right off the bridge to visit Sainsbury’s you just can’t take that route to drive through Fulham to head north, I.E it cannot be used as a throughroute. Just don’t pass the rough the camera on Imperial Road but access anywhere either side of the camera as required. Yes it has always be...

Re: Further Restrictions for Traffic on Wandsworth Bridge / Wandsworth Bridge Road - A Nightmare for Wandsworth Resident

For reference; What it this map DOESN'T show is the planned narrowing of Wandsworth Bridge down to one lane thus meaning all traffic for Fulham will be held up by traffic up front turning right into Townmead Road... a vicious and spiteful addition that is solely designed to restrict traffic flow and...

Re: Further Restrictions for Traffic on Wandsworth Bridge / Wandsworth Bridge Road - A Nightmare for Wandsworth Resident

Of course some people will approve since they do not have a car or cycle and say these restrictions are to cut pollution but; 1) These restrictions also punish Electric cars - fined like everyone one else AND stuck in jams just the same as petrol ones. Electric Cars NOT EXCEMPT 2) Pollution caused b...

Re: Further Restrictions for Traffic on Wandsworth Bridge / Wandsworth Bridge Road - A Nightmare for Wandsworth Resident

Thanks all! I must say my problems getting to my Mother are one thing but there must be many of us who cross the Wandsworth Bridge on a regular basis to get to North and West London - disregarding my Mother's trip I must do it at least weekly . So all of us that drive in London will take a massive h...
