This was a post from 2021.  Byron has since been turned into Ole & Stein.

Re: Is it time to ban 4x4s?

Completely agree with Supergirl. The other thing is (and I know that it sounds horrid), but if the press is correct that the children were in the garden at the time, it wouldn't have made that much difference what the car was - a family people carrier could have done just as much harm as a landrover...

Re: Out of control schoolchildren on St Johns Road

The incedent at Ploussard happened at around 5.15 apparently, so probably avoid until at least 5.30.

Out of control schoolchildren on St Johns Road

Has anyone seen how St Johns Road has turned into a no-go zone for a couple of hours after school?  According to shopkeepers, the Vape shop owner was assaulted by three teenage boys last week whilst the girls tried to make off with a load of vapes.  Last night the waiter from Ploussard (corner of No...

Re: Sushi Shop is coming to Clapham!

Shame that yet another shop/restaurant opening thinks that Northcote Road is in Clapham when it is blatantly in Battersea.

Re: Looking for a puppy

Sorry to say this dimelda but your comment comes across as really condecending, particularly the 'think about it' bit at the end.  Different people want different pets for different reasons - size, sex, type of coat etc.  Everyone knows that Battersea Dogs Home exists, so I'm sure if they had one th...

Re: Christmas tipping - it won’t be my postman this year

I'm with readysteadycook on this one.  Whilst I understand that public services are stretched at the moment, and inflation is at an all time high, however... Inflation will not remain at this level for ever, and when it does come down then will the same strikers then take a pay cut? No chance. So al...

Re: URGENT: Northcote Road summer pedestrianisation scheme

In fairness the traffic on Bolingbroke Grove has been terrible on the weekends for years, a long time before the closure of Northcote. Only this last Saturday I sat there for half an hour as the traffic lights on the junction with Battersea Rise change so quickly that it only allows three or four ca...

Re: Colette closing on Northcote Road

Entirely predictable given the prices they charge.  Why does everyone seem to think that people who live between the commons have money to burn - most people I know are asset rich but cash poor (well maybe not exactly poor, but not with the sort of disposable income shops like these assume).  It's t...

Re: Brew on Northcote?

Rumour has it that they didn't pay their rent on several of their shops and they were evicted.  The owner seems to be a pretty nasty piece of work - he was caught on camera trying to drive a cyclist into a hedge and then threatening to kill him when he got out of the car.  Good riddance in my opinio...

By the sound of your post it's a relatively new purchase so why not simply Google the model number for the instructions?!!!?

Re: Bad experience with Simon Yeo from Ninjakids

I wouldn't pass any judgement on this, but it's a really interesting example of how online forums can get used - an anonymous seemingly very partial account starts it off.  In this case the person criticised has responded, but very often they don't or can't or no-one listens.  Worth remembering nex...

Re: Bad experience with Simon Yeo from Ninjakids

Whilst I have sympathy for the original poster, I'd have to say that this is absolutely not our experience with Simon.  Both of our children have been taught/trained by Simon and he has been nothing but brilliant.  He's clearly a strong character, but his approach with our kids has always been firm ...

Re: sleeping with a snoring wife

I can totally relate to this.  My wife doesn't necessarily snore, she just breathes really loudly!! It doesn't help that I'm also a really light sleeper and generally only get 5 or 6 hours a night. We looked at all sorts of solutions, not drinking (OK, cutting down drinking!), sleep positions, weigh...
