Re: Planning Query

Try giving this company a call. They did our planning drawings/submission for us. He used to work for Wandsworth planning so knows what they tend to look for.

Builder needed for mid-sized job

Hello, please can someone recommend a builder who would do a medium sized job. A lot of the building companies will only take on large projects it seems. I'm looking for someone to remove a skylight and increase the hole size and prep for installation of a new skylight. Also to remove and re-build a...

If you buy a new one most big suppliers will offer to remove it for £10-£20. Council will also collect for a fee.

Re: Have you used Upad?

We've used openrent a few times and can't fault it. If I remember correctly the cost is in the region of £50. We took our own photos, created the listing and conducted viewings (we just allocated time slots on a Saturday which suited most). The flats were always rented out immediately. They create t...

Planning permission about to expire

Our new house had planning permission in place when we bought it however it is due to expire in a couple of months. The permission stipulates that work must have commenced before the expiry date. We are in a position to start work fairly soon but maybe not by the expiry date and we would ideally lik...

Re: Help! We need a new bathroom

We've used Adema a couple of time. They do a great finish at a reasonably price. http://www.adema-uk.co.uk/adema/bathroom.html

For good value tiles I'd recommend walls & floors and for good value fittings trueshopping.com

Re: Loft conversion cost. Help needed

They will usually quote without plans. Most of the loft companies have done thousands of these (providing it's your standard mid-terrace house) so can quote fairly confidently. So if you say you would like a velux with a bathroom then they will often give you a fairly standard quote initially, speci...

Re: Loft conversion cost. Help needed

I think ours was in the region of £50k. We had a existing conversion but it was very badly done and didn't max the space. We managed to add an extra 8m2 to the space, which if you calculate the £/sqM price in the area means that we still made the money back and ended up with a much much better space...
