Re: Ball Games Area - Chivalry Road

Free use between 4-6pm only is not enough during weekends!!!
As opposed to school days, children are free all day long at weekends, so free availability should reflect that!
Can’t believe community resources are so restrictive for free use!!

where to buy diamond pendant present?

Hello I'm looking to buy a present for around 500£-600£, I am thinking of a diamond cluster pendant, I need it for next week. Any recommendations on where to go for that price range? The only place I can think of is Hatton Gardens, but as it's not a huge amount I am not sure I'd find something there...

Re: SwimWay swimming school - WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

My 2 kids take swimming classes with swimway. We used their Balham pool and know Alejandro (not my kids teacher but he was always around when we were there) - he is a very nice guy (and a good teacher too), and I find it hard to believe he would have lied. Of course I can’t tell for sure but perhaps...

Re: Police on bramfield road - any idea what happened?

This is all so worrying!!! I was reading about it online - https://www.croydonadvertiser.co.uk/news/croydon-news/people-being-murdered-watches-police-1680707 Seems like it's impossible to catch the moped robbers!! Because they will always be quicker than the police... and their faces are covered and...

Re: Honeywell School or local private prep?

We are very happy Honeywell parents (only in reception though, so not as knowledgeable as the others). We like Honeywell for all the reasons already mentioned (happy children, great diversity, walking distance, and so on). However, if you think of it as a pre-prep but for free, I think you will be d...

Swimming pool - at the weekend

Hello, Can anyone recommend a swimming pool where we can take our young children (3 and 5) swimming at the weekend? Not too busy and clean/nice/comfy inside. I don't mind paying for it, but ideally somewhere where we can pay on an ad-hoc basis, as we would only use it at the weekends, and not every ...

Re: Dumped christmas tree caused me injury

Sorry to hear ... But I am not sure they are to blame. The council website says collection on your normal refuse collection day from 5th Jan. http://www.wandsworth.gov.uk/news/article/13159/free_christmas_tree_recycling Our collection is on Friday, so on the 6th everyone on the street put their tree...

Re: Locals' restaurant offer at Macellaio RC Northcote Rd

I'm a big fan of Macellaio, very pleased with the new addition to Northcote Road.

Dudette, really, too much to ask... Probably space is tight, so they made a call to put their dry aging room in the front...

Re: Buying a place at Thomas’s

What do you mean, buying their way out of the assessment? Make a big donation and instead get a place for their child? Like it's sometimes done by American universities? I haven't heard of anything like this for primary school in the UK ... but I can see how large donations would be of interest to t...

Re: Thurleah road - any luck getting into Belleville or Honeywell?

Not so sure that catchments BTC will get larger and larger. Historically, years with large catchment areas are followed by years of reduced catchment areas (due to siblings). Agree about keeping Alderbrook in mind, it is a school on the up, have only heard positive feedback about it in the last few ...

Re: Nappy Valley: any school with idiotic rules worth flagging?

SouthLondonDaddy - I personally agree with your view, but what exactly are you hoping to achieve by writing all this here?? Probably everyone disagrees with capricious rules, like the 11 vs 11p shade of grey. But I doubt this happens in many schools. Re. Honeywell - the flip side of their no policy ...

Re: Nappy Valley: any school with idiotic rules worth flagging?

I haven't heard of any such stories around here. The schools I have heard of (and are regularly talked about on nvn) are all very reasonable. I don't think any of them do detentions at the primary school level, they are all quite nurturing. It's different at secondary school level, where some are mo...
