Teen periods & swimming

Hi everyone!

I am looking for some advice. My teen just started per periods. She is very sporty & really enjoys swimming. Apart from using tampons, how are your young teens managing swimming / beach / water sport & periods?

Thank you!! ;)

Private Healthcheck

Hello everyone!

I would like I to do a private health check (just turned 40...) including mammographs, blood test (incl cholesterol & diabetes) etc. Unfortunately my work does not cover this as part of the health insurance. Any recommendations?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Newton Prep: how diverse is it?

I have friends from different nationalities and ethnicity who send their children to Newton Prep. It is a brilliant school, diverse, truly international and co-ed (which was a big plus for my friends). Definitively worth keeping at the top of your list.

Re: The P*ssin tree, Clapham Common playground nr Battersea

There was a post already last year about this problem...Stop letting your children wee in the playground...
I must agree it does smell...

Re: 1 year old not crawling etc

My friend's first born never crawled, was not bothered to hold her bottle nor eat by herself until she was at least two and started walking at 22 months. We always laugh that she was talking before she started walking. Her second did pretty much the same thing. I remember at 15 months she was still ...

Re: Recommendations for English/French Nurseries

I would recommend L'Ecole Du Parc. There was a thread recently on NVN about this nursery.

Good Luck

Re: Husband wants to go on holiday on his own

Hi, I do understand your husband needs a break and wants to make the most of the gardening leave but taking four months travelling on your own when you have a family is a bit strange. I like Pie_81's suggestion. Also, is there no way you can take the kids out of school exceptionally and join your hu...

Re: école du parc or les petite heaven nursery???

Hi, I have no experience of Les Petits Heavens so can’t speak for this nursery. However one of my children attends l’Ecole Du Parc and I cannot speak highly enough of this school. The school is safe, clean, each classroom is spacious and the children have access to a great outdoor space. The managem...

Re: Men and women sharing chores

Hi Toddy, This is quite an interesting topic – sharing of chores between men and women... We are in a similar-ish situation; I work full time and my husband is self-employed; working part-time during the week and most week-ends. I earn more currently and this is likely to stay as it is until his bus...

Re: To get a dog, or not...

You could maybe "borrow" a doggy to help make your mind whether or not to get a dog!
My friend has two dogs and a "borrower" that take the dogs some week ends and look after them for free when she is off on holiday. It's a win win!
Have a look at their website
Good luck!

Re: Ecole des petits question

Hi NorthcoteRoad, Also bear in mind the admission policy to the Lycée in Kensington is changing from 2015. Looks like the "écoles homologuées", which l'Ecole des Petits is, will not benefit from a direct link to the Lycée Charles de Gaulle any longer. The aim is to reduce the number of stu...

Re: Messy parents

I am sadden by how offensive a few posts come across - I am sure it was not intentional.I agree with AbbevilleMummy that it does not cast the right shadow for our children. Parenting is a hard job and there is no doubt every parent is trying their best for their children. That's why I wish we would ...

Re: Stop letting your children wee in the playground

Sometimes I wonder if all posts are written by parents...anyone tried walking the 10 min home with a four year old that desperately needs to wee? Anyone tried to drag their three year old (who by the way did very well at warning he/she needs a wee) out of the playground to wee responsibly in the nea...

Re: Messy parents

Please share with me your tips on disciplining excited-to-be-eating-out-with-their-little-friends toddlers - without it escalating to full on tantrums (which would be even more inconvenient for other parents in the restaurant)! Personally, when going out to places where kids are (mine but others too...
