Re: Botox

I can totally appreciate that the first time you have it done, you are very nervous and go to a great specialist. When you have it done regularly, and 3 areas, as those of us in our mid 40s night need to do, you become a bit more price sensitive. Of course some people are better than others in their...

Re: Giant new children's playground at Kew Gardens

This is great news, however, just wanted to warn anyone heading there that there has been a lot of heated discussion about it on SW18 mums on FB - apparently you need to get a timed entry ticket, and stories of people who went there only to find out that by 11 am, all the tickets were gone, or that ...

Re: Looking for a good joiner to do a front door

These guys (I had a recommendation on this site for them) did an absolutely fab job for me - replaced both the door and door frame and did a glass door for less than the London Door Company quoted for the door itself, and with Banham locks instead of cheaper ones. I get a lot of compliments on my do...

Re: Nanny holiday sick pay practice

We and many families we know give nannies 25 days in addition to bank holidays as these are the days that we go away as a family on holidays. Sick pay is tricky. I have a friend who gave a nanny 12 sick days at full pay, so promptly the nanny took off sick days for every cold. SSP feels very paltry ...

Re: Questions to ask a potential builder

Sorry to be one of the naysayers, with our first project we did it by the book, had a contract, checked references etc... and it was a disaster - builder from hell we ultimately had to fire, sued and won but never got a penny as the company folded. I was even smarter the second time and asked for re...

Re: Moving to London

Well, given that most of us on this forum live in the area - we of course think yes! The whole area is dubbed "nappy valley" precisely because so many people with children (all ages) live here.  There are many "sub-areas" in the wide area, it all depends on your budget. "Between the commons" (abbrev...

Re: Buggy Cleaning Service South West London

Elicia Willis on Facebook - she's based out of a storage space in Merton. She's a member of SW18 mums FB group if you can't contact her otherwise. I have used her twice for buggy repairs and she was super knowledgeable and reasonably priced. Also a guy called James Rainey, he is closer by and might ...

Re: What DO we want on Northcote Road???

When I walked by on Saturday midday, I was pleasantly surprised that Farrago seem to do a lovely and reasonably priced brunch too - a great option for anyone not wanting to queue on Northcote Road.

Re: Loft Conversion

Hi, I just had a team of builders do my total loft renovation (it was about the same as loft conversion as we redid the roof, put in new steel beams, took out 2 internal walls, gutted out everything and put in everything new including a bathroom). I would highly recommend the guys who did the job: h...

Re: Recommendation for a good builder

I can highly recommend Ernest and Sergy. They just finished a major loft renovation at mine, and have previously done a cloak room and a front door. PM me if you want to see the quality of work! They were very fast and very reasonably priced. You can also search my post to see I had builders from he...

Re: Will writing recommendation please

We used co-op wills, everything was done over the phone. It was friendly, very reasonably priced and knowledgable. They also store it for you indefinitely for free. There was a discount on money supermarket! I have a limited company so thought this was non standard but it was a no brainer for them. ...

Re: What DO we want on Northcote Road???

I am really surprised Mountain Warehouse is reappearing - they were in the site which is now Pret for 2 years and then closed, about 2 years ago I think? There is a lovely new Middle Eastern (Lebanese) on the corner of Battersea Rise and Northcote - next to Dip & Flip. It’s called Amar and it replac...
