Antalya recommendations for April

Would anyone have any recommendations for Antalya hotels?
Are there many activities for children aged around 10?
I think the water (sea and swimming pool) would be cold, so what other children activities would there be?

Re: Saying no to my sister?

Of course I don’t know the ins and outs of your situation. But I’d be inclined to say you should let her use the villa? Is there anything there that cannot be fixed afterwards? She is your sister and maybe can’t afford a holiday elsewhere. And if she was such bad company at the villa previously.. we...

Re: Awful SIL making me dread extended family Christmas

I feel for you OP! Have you considered if you really want to do this for xmas? I get it, family you don’t get to choose, but do you really want to spend xmas like that? We have been going away to a warm country for xmas since a few yrs ago, and it’s really lovely not to have to spend xmas with famil...

Re: Grandparents treat my children differently to their cousins

Just call it out if it bothers you! Why wait? They are your children and closer to you than your FIL. If he doesn’t like it, that’s his business to manage. Also ask the children how they feel about it, if they don’t like it teach them how to teach respond back nicely, after all he won’t be the last ...

Personal trainer - boxing

Hi,

Does anyone have any recommendations for a PT that does beginner boxing? I would like to try it out, have seen someone doing it in Wandsworth common in the summer but Alas didn’t ask their name at the time...

Thank you!

Re: Finton or Newton Prep

I would say - definitely visit both and ultimately go with your gut feel! They are quite different schools, with NP being much larger. Distance to home is important in the earlier years, but honestly it’s all manageable. We are close to Honeywell but chose NP and haven’t regretted (and found it very...

Would anyone be able to recommend a handyman to build us storage shelves in our (not converted) basement?

Many thanks!

Re: Clinically overweight friend in danger of being excluded

I think Dudette’s advice is very reasonable and what I would do as well.

On the topic of weight loss, I’d also mention that there are many daily delivery boxes options (pure package, fresh fitness foods, etc) that may help her start getting healthy.

Re: Putney High Junior School Vs. Thomas's Clapham

Go with your gut feel! PH seems the better option from what you describe. The commute doesn’t sound that bad, you will make it work!! We had a similar choice between NP and Thomas’s Clapham a few years back, with Thomas’s being 5 mins away and we also had a younger one in a nursery nearby. We chose ...

Re: do private schools ask for number of tuition hours

The OP didn’t really ask whether tutoring was right or wrong, just if the rumour had any truth in it!

I really cannot understand why people have such set views on tutoring that they need to add them at every opportunity. It’s a matter for each family to consider really ...

Re: Should I speak to parent or school about bullying?

Definitely the school! I would speak to the form teacher, ask for her views on how to deal with it. In some cases, it may not be as obvious a thing as your child makes out, so the school needs to observe what is happening (I speak from experience, as it happened to one of my kids, it really wasn’t a...

Re: Bad experience with Simon Yeo from Ninjakids

Why couldn’t Simeon just ask the child to sit it out inside the class?? Honestly, I think that’s an error of judgement and no amount of explanations (asked a parent to keep an eye!??!) can justify this, as Simeon does have a duty of care. Best course of action would have been for Simeon to apologise...

Re: resenting my step daughter

Hi altelier, I think all the replies you got are right- basically, there is no state of the world in which trying to exclude the step daughter is acceptable. If I were you, I’d really forget about “putting your foot down” with your husband - she is his daughter, and he would be a bad father if he ju...

Re: Need advise from current Thomas's Clapham parents please!

What is your gut feel? Where do you see your child fitting in the best? I think listen to you instinct and go with that. We had a similar choice a few years back, and went for NP despite being less than 10 mins walk from Thomas’s Clapham. In hindsight, it was absolutely the right decision. My DS is ...
