Re: Examples of crimes in our local shopping areas

The police have had their numbers and funding cut, and all the PCSOs in London were cut by 68% (https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6775205/Police-forces-secretly-slashed-5-500-PCSOs-ten-years.html). So it isn't much of a surprise that you don't see them on the street. Obviously they have also ...

Re: Rottweiler Wimbledon Common Incident - Appeal for witnesses

I find it difficult to contemplate that a 13 year old could outrun a rottweiler, but that's a matter of nuance in this case. You should report this to the police. You should also go to the site and check for any cctv cameras yourself. This would include checking sites where the man and his dog poten...

Re: potential foreign job offer for husband, seeking advice

I think people talking about divorces and child abduction are a bit premature, there are many things to consider before you could remotely get to that stage. While you are asking about schools, I think the first thing for you to consider is whether you will be able to work in Canada (in particular M...

Re: Swimming Lessons for 3 year old

The leisure centres at Latchmere and Tooting offer swimming lessons (probably all of the local leisure centres do, ie Putney, Wimbledon, Clapham, Streatham). There are also local clubs catering for young swimmers, but I'm not sure they start as young as three (Merton Swordfish at Wimbledon Leisure C...

Re: Footballer, Michail Antonio crashed his Lamborghini into a Balham front garden on Christmas Day dressed as a snowma

How can it be that the police are not investigating this? Are we really that short on police officers that they can't put together an obvious case of driving without due care and attention?

If I did something like this I'd expect to get banned.

Re: How big is the academic gap between Honeywell and Newton Prep?

I do not want anyone to tell him that something is just not for his age group or not in the year’s curriculum. And I want him to stop being miserable and demotivated. This is probably always going to be a problem in a state school, particularly if it is a small school or is not streaming. I had exa...

Re: More peopled voted for parties supporting a 2nd referendum, than voted for parties in favour of Brexit.

You have classified me as "For Brexit", which I'm not… Actually he hasn't done that at all, all he has indicated is that if there was proportional representation there would be a different split in the number for each party in parliament - effectively the Conservatives would not have a majority, an...

Re: How big is the academic gap between Honeywell and Newton Prep?

I think what you need to know is that your child will be learning at the level required for their progression. If Honeywell can do that, then great. But the thing to do is contact the schools and ask both how they would deal with your child. If you are not happy with the answers, or can't get an ans...

Re: Growing Up in Wartime Battersea

There's a bit missing from this. My father was born in Weatherby in Yorkshire - despite all out family being from Battersea. This is because my grandmother was evacuated to Yorkshire. Probably plenty of children from the area were evacuated themselves.

Re: Husband's financial deceit means son now can't go to private school

It's not really clear to me what you are angry about. Is it that your husband has gone out and spent the money? Or is it that you've just discovered that you aren't as rich as you thought you were, and you blame your husband for not informing you of this at his earliest opportunity? As others have n...

Re: Brexit - but this is definitely worth watching.

The first problem is that this speech is by the leader of AfD, the right-wing German nationalist party. What are they going to say, that the EU is a good thing!? Seems unlikely, and that runs right through her speech. The second thing is this idea that we can have a single market without regulation ...

Re: Co-Working near Clapham Junction?

There's a new shared space opened on Battersea Park Road, on the south side close to the junction of Latchmere Road. Sorry, can't recall what it is called.

Re: Please sign and share this petition to revoke article 50 and remain - nearly at 1m signatures!

Today both the Chancellor and the Brexit Secretary said they would strike off both the ‘no deal’ and ‘revoke’ options off the ‘indicative’ list. I think my money is safe ;) Somehow I don't think two votes will have the final say on it!? I also seem to recall that one of the previous Brexit secretar...
