Re: To Use or Not to Use the Same Names as Friends

My best friend from school just called her daughter like mine, she asked me before and I was genuinely happy! I told her that if someone told us when we were teenagers that we’d have daughters with the same name one day we would have loved the idea! Your friend lives in Sydney, she won’t spend most ...

Re: Please object to this heinous Wandsworth Town development

Are they planning to build a new school? Or to provide more transport solution? If not, I am sorry to say that the idea is crazy. They built the Osier Road development a few years ago, they are building on the brewery site and now on the Homebase site. I am not sure of their plans but if no new scho...

Re: Childcare for my toddler while in hospital for new baby

I had a very similar situation due to my son being due in mid December and still not coming by the weekend before Christmas by which time all the friends who had said they would look after our toddler were leaving London for Christmas. In the end, I travelled to where our family were, and had the b...

Re: I urgently need to de-stress - but how?

When you don't have the family support around where you live (I don't know if you do, I just assume), being a parent is even more exhausting because you never have a break. My sister who lives near my mum has the support of all grand parents, they look after her little girl one day a week, some week...

Re: Working Parents! Need your advice please!

Gosh this is my favourite subject, when you don't have family support and living in such a big city when commute can be long it's a real juggling act. My husband does drop off and I do pick up. But because of nursery closing times it means I have to leave work at 4.30. My boss is very supportive and...

Re: Husband getting tattoo

All sorts of people have tattoos nowadays, so no need to be so mean to the OP and claim that she and her husband are snobs. My granddad's arms were covered in tats because he was in the Navy from an early age and they were de rigueur for that age and job/class. Now my posh sister has them - not anc...

Re: Husband getting tattoo

Not even a first world problem! Why is that even an issue? I agree with a previous poster your husband doesn't sound like the nicest person. Genuinely I don't see how it is affecting you or your kids. If that's what he wants? Good for him! The truth is: It is affecting the image of you and your husb...

Re: A letter to my wife who won't get a job while I work myself to death

I very much agree with the two of you. I work full time and have a full time guilt for having my son at nursery all week. And I agree Marmot-in-London, kids would prefer being with us all the time. All my friends who grew up with a stay at home mum tell me how much they loved it. But I always wonder...

A letter to my wife who won't get a job while I work myself to death

Hi everyone, I read this interesting letter in the Guardian this weekend and I can't get it out of my mind... https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2016/jul/02/a-letter-to-my-wife-who-wont-get-a-job-while-i-work-myself-to-death I do empathize with the man who clearly is close to having a nervous ...

Re: Do you read partners email/FB etc?

I don't read my husband's emails, facebook etc, but I could. I don't because frankly I don't care but mainly because we trust each other so don't feel the need to do it . If there is something important in these messages I know he would tell me anyway. I used to do it with an ex boyfriend because th...

Re: Normal for nursery to raise fees after three months?

Hi BabyL, ask them, our nursery raised their fees because of the new minimum wage law but we received a letter a couple of weeks before to let us know. Usually nurseries raise their fees in September.

Re: Childcare for 6 week old?

Super open minded Petal! When I say western countries I don't just mean Europe. US for example? A friend of mine had to go back to work 3 weeks after giving birth. Not only the French are weird about this stuff. Also, funny you talk about the weird French politician who got back to work after 2 week...

Re: Childcare for 6 week old?

Telling the poster that going back to work after 6 weeks is cruel is really not helpful at all. She probably doesn't need the guilt and judgement of other people. In a lot of western countries women go back to work at around that time. Wether you want to go back early or not is another debate. OP pl...
