Re: In-laws voted leave. They've removed my children's freedom of movement and I can't cope with seeing them any longer.

Interesting thread. I agree with the dangers of social media. It doesn’t help our ability to switch off from things like these. Put your energy and time into positive things that make you and your family happy. You can’t change these things, they will take their own path. Join clubs, volunteering, m...

Re: In-laws voted leave. They've removed my children's freedom of movement and I can't cope with seeing them any longer.

Same issue in our house. My husband and I voted remain but my parents and in-laws voted leave. They still stand firm in their views that a no deal brexit is the best way forward! I find it hard to process but I respect their views. We don’t discuss it much now as my husband in particular gets wound ...

Re: Downstairs toilets vs bigger kitchen

Personally I would never get rid of a downstairs toilet and certainly I would never buy a house without one, particularly if I had children. Move it yes but don’t remove it!

Re: Advice / views on Beatrix Potter and Earlsfield Primary schools

We are BP parents too and the above post is an accurate summary. We love the school and its ethos. The parents and their children are all like minded. It has a terrific sense of community. With use of the sports facilities behind the school, the sport is amazing for a state primary with my kids doin...

Re: What has happened to Nappyvalleynet

Have to say I agree with a previous post. I used to use this site frequently but now find it too hard to navigate. You can’t move to the next page without scrolling to the bottom of the page which takes forever etc. Maybe I am missing a trick !!

Re: To Use or Not to Use the Same Names as Friends

We had that exact scenario when one of our friends called her baby who was born 2 days before our chosen name. We decided to opt for a different name, and are now pleased with our decision however don’t feel that you have to do this. If you love the name, speak to your friend and tell her this was a...

Re: Chelsea & West or St Thomas?

I had an awful experience with my first at St Thomas and hence had my 2 subsequent children at St George’s and was super impressed by the care there. Trust your gut instinct and move if you feel more comfortable, however, as a previous post said it often comes down to staffing levels on the day and ...

Re: Only afford to send one to private school

Interesting thread. I agree that it’s best not to enter into something that seems unfair from the outset. Interestingly I am one of 4, With 2 going private and 2 not. The circumstances are different in that we were given the choice of School at secondary so there couldnt be and wasn’t any resentment...

Re: Ears pinned back advice

I had ear surgery by Mr Gault. My costs were eventually covered by the PCT so worth looking into this although mine was 10 years ago now. Fully endorse the other comments re Gault. He is a miracle worker and the best around. Good luck.

Re: A very happy conclusion to the issue of excessive ‘settling in’ periods for reception year children.

This first post was bad. This one is worse. I think your initial intentions were good but you wanted to have the last comment on a thread that was going against you. It was going against you not because of your proposal (which was good) but because of the way you were handling it. Of course an optio...

Re: Honest feedback on Balham for a family?

There's no sibling priority at Beatrix Potter unless you live in the catchment area so you are pretty much guaranteed a place as long as you live in either the primary or secondary catchment. There haven't been any cases of people living in either catchment not getting a place! You wouldn't be able ...

Re: Honest feedback on Balham for a family?

Good idea actually to rent for a bit if you can. You will get a better feel of where in balham to live. We moved from balham to Earlsfield. I only use overground so E was better with trains every 3 mins to Waterloo plus if you make sure you live In catchment for BP you are guaranteed a place which m...
