Re: Primary Schools Clapham/Wandsworth

As a couple of people have said, most of the schools in Wandsworth are excellent. I would highly recommend looking at Balham (great transport links) and visiting the state schools there - Ravenstone, Henry Cavendish, Rutherford House, Telferscot, Holy Ghost etc. We found them all to be great and wer...

Re: Henry Cavendish & Rutherford House schools

I agree with the posts above - definitely visit Ravenstone before you make a final decision - there’s an open morning at 9am this Tuesday (tomorrow) Ravenstone is a really exceptional school with impressive academic results and a warm, friendly community. Our son is genuinely excited about going to ...

Re: Get your education questions answered

These findings are unsurprising. If you push and coach children through their school years then you’re not giving them space to be proactive, self motivated learners. When they arrive at university and no one is standing over them making them do prep, inevitably some of them will lose their way and ...

Re: Half-day / flexible summer camps for a 5 year old

It’s worth speaking to Chloe at https://www.picassosinthepark.com My son had a fantastic time at their two day Easter camp which was in Oval, right next to the tube station. Drop off was at 9am but it’s enroute to london so my husband still made it into work almost on time! ;) Maybe they’ll accommod...

Re: Mauritius recommendations

The St Regis in Mauritus is fantastic. You can request a ground floor suite overlooking the small swimming pool and with a beach view, then your boys will be able to get up and dive straight in whilst you have a relaxed coffee on the veranda! The kids club is great, food is outstanding, and it’s a s...

Re: Hair today gone tomorrow....

I feel your pain. My curly hair has all fallen out or gone straight since I had my second child. It’s really demoralising and has knocked my confidence. I don’t have any solutions (all advice welcome!) but I do have a very sympathetic hairdresser who I’d recommend - Lou at HeadMasters in Balham. Goo...

Re: Looked After Children- schooling advice

Hello! I was going to recommend you go and talk to Mr Croft at Ravenstone to seek his advice, but I can see Mumof3Balham beat me to it! She is quite right - there are lots of excellent options in Balham, the key is to find the right fit for your child. I would visit as many schools as possible...

Re: Trinity St Mary's School Balham

We found the nursery excellent but moved for reception. The leadership team did not seem very suportive of teaching staff which led to high turnover, and there was little engagement with parents. I would recommend looking at the other excelllent primary schools close by before you make a decision.

Re: Ravenstone vs Rutherford House primaries

I know everyone will have made their school choices now, but wanted to add my thoughts in case you find yourselves wondering which one to take up when the allocations come out! We have experience of both Trinity St Mary and Ravenstone, we also looked round and seriously considered private school opt...

Re: Primary state schools Balham

Our son has just started reception at Ravenstone and it is excellent. Very warm, friendly environment - we were invited onto the parents WhatsApp group during the summer holidays before school started and met up with quite a few parents in advance. The leadership team are dynamic and ambitious for t...

Re: Anyone else feels bad?

What a fantastic response! There are lots of brilliant things happening in Wandsworth that you can get involved with. Carmel Dann and Antonia Godber are both fundraising and collecting for refugees in Calais (especially mums and children). They have a fundraiser coming up on the 2nd Dec at the Tooti...

Re: confused about Lambeth schools admissions!

Hello! Thanks for all the super helpful posts! :D We are officially in Wandsworth but right on the border with Lambeth. Does anyone have experience of applying to Nursery or Reception at Telferscot or Henry Cavendish from Wandsworth? Would an application to either of these schools have any chance of...

Lovely fairy godmother/aupair wanted in Balham!

Hello! We are looking for a lovely fairy godmother/aupair to help out with our affectionate two year old son and keep our house in order! ;) My husband and I both work full-time, so our son goes to a childminder four days per week and is looked after by his Grandparents one day per week.
