Re: Food waste collections for all in Wandsworth

As long as we don’t end up like Lambeth with an ugly collection of different bins.

I wonder how big it is.

Re: New 20mph zone on the A205?

Who was suggesting not following the law ?
We can still disagree with it and express it .
Come on …

Re: New 20mph zone on the A205?

This post is quite depressing. Julien is perfectly entitled to be frustrated at the new speed limit and to express this without petty finger pointing passive aggressive replies and lectures and statistics about speed. ( and I totally agree with him ) Discussing is good of course, but it’s the attitu...

Re: Sins of the parents carrying through?

Quite simply, it would be a no from me . She’s not even a good friend to you which could have made it more awkward. Your child is young enough to be able to step in and control the situation. Given they are heading to secondary soon it’s especially important to stay the hell away. The poor girls is ...

Re: New 20mph zone on the A205?

The common is well served with safe access points all over. The safety of pedestrians is not compromised, totally irrelevant when discussing a main road as in this example. Or do you let your children play along the very edge of the extension ?, For example, take avenue along from Broomwood road to ...

Re: New 20mph zone on the A205?

Julien, Yes it’s annoying and whilst 20mph is reasonable in residential street , it’s actually a nuisance on main roads! 20mph means people brake more as hard to flow in traffic which causes more pollution! Also, more particles are let out at lower speed apparently . The argument of London average s...

Re: Who else feels outraged about what councils have done to Wandsworth Bridge Rd and Streatham  High Rd

Agree Roangel! On the topic of traffic fines being used as cash cows , I’ve been wondering what will happens when the new 20mph zones are introduced on the A3 Clapham Common extension etc Will they be able to fine motorists on the 20mph roads using existing cameras ? As Wandsworth famously tried and...

Re: Who else feels outraged about what councils have done to Wandsworth Bridge Rd and Streatham  High Rd

Oh chorister don’t be such a bore and do pay attention yourself. I fully recall the trajedy of the commons and why it failed. However, I did think it was not a great example, if you pay attention in your older years ;) When it comes to driving cars and the costs entailed then it’s not free in that s...

Re: Who else feels outraged about what councils have done to Wandsworth Bridge Rd and Streatham  High Rd

@Chorister, I don’t need to research the tragedy of the commons as I studied it at university and well aware. It’s not quite applicable here as the tragedy of the commons concept is when a resource is free and not owned by one person. We pay for our Road use by taxes and the fines for any minor offe...

Re: Who else feels outraged about what councils have done to Wandsworth Bridge Rd and Streatham  High Rd

And LTN’s are mostly dispersing problems elsewhere. At worst they cause serious issues, such as when ambulances couldn’t access roads in Tooting thank to idiots LTN’a being implements without proper practical planning. Cycling as a form of regular transport is not practical for quite a large chunk o...

Re: Who else feels outraged about what councils have done to Wandsworth Bridge Rd and Streatham  High Rd

The topic was not about entitled parents who park all over corners and yellow lines such as the infuriating Thomas’ parents …. It’s about councils ruining businesses and London in general with ridiculous 20 mph limits on artery roads for example. It’s not illegal to drive and nobody needs to try to ...

Re: Who else feels outraged about what councils have done to Wandsworth Bridge Rd and Streatham  High Rd

And Wandsworth bridge road the local area is a minefield and so easy to get a ticket as it’s only once you enter the no traffic area that you see the sign so impossible to evade unless you have prior knowledge. I had a PCN and managed to get it cancelled as the signage is appalling. Not come back th...

Re: Who else feels outraged about what councils have done to Wandsworth Bridge Rd and Streatham  High Rd

It’s because we are all meant to cycle or flap our arms and hope to fly where we need to go … Wandsworth are acting as if driving and parking is an illegal activity ! Roads are there to be made congested and to make up as many schemes as possible to fine people until they hopeful disappear… Bus lane...

Re: Consultation soon on plans for 13 new Quiet Cycling Routes across Wandsworth

Travelling by foot ?? You mean walking ? And you know that thing called pavement? It’s quite good for walking on and takes you wherever you need to go locally. Like magic eh? Maybe Wandsworth Labour money wasters can create a course for local residents to show them how to walk in case people don’t m...
