Re: Would you pave over your whole garden?

We went from paved to full Astro. Way better and a lot less maintenance. Maybe not the answer you wanted though!! A lot of BTC gardens are too small to get enough light to maintain a nice garden and paving can be expensive and hard to maintain (gets very discolored /mossy) We actually went from gard...

Palmer Northcote Rd

Just wanted to leave a recommendation for Palmer on Northcote Rd. I have been buying suits, shirts and shoes from there for years and have been meaning to leave a recommendation for a while. Customer service is great and it’s the same people been serving me for over 10yr and go out of their way to m...

Re: What are your opinions of Northcote Road?

I definitely think it needs the weekend closure again. It was a wonderful atmosphere and the shops and bars need it . It’s a great road but needs that va va voom back. Even in the rain it was busier and they all catered well.

Totally agree.

Utility Bills

Hello, Just trying to get a sense of what people are paying for a standard 4 bed Victorian family house between the commons - for combined electricy and gas - based on current usage (eg based on a meter not just a standard dd that equalizes through the year). We are see £800-£1000 pm through the win...

Re: How long is the wait for the Harbour Club and is it worth it?

I don’t think there is a wait list. You do just pay a debenture and then get it back when you leave - though I think only about 85% and can take a few years. Otherwise like any other gym membership just more expensive. I found best value was if you had kids and could get value from pool and crèche.

Re: Which resorts more likely to have snow?

Somewhere high with easily accessible beginner slopes. Can’t go wrong with Val d’isere. Not the cheapest or everyone’s cup of tea (very British), but as reliable and convenient skiing as you can get. That said you can probably leave it to last minute to book as it’s not a peak week. I understand som...

Re: Is £2M pension fund enough?

Questions like this are really difficult as there lots of variables (how long you will live, interest rates, inflation, and return on your investments). You then have the standard of living you want to maintain. So it’s an almost impossible calculation. All you can do is do a very rough calculation ...

Re: Nursery Fees

Make your point by moving. Kids are adaptable. Parents worry too much. Please don’t fall into the trap of feeling hard done by but not do anything about it.

Re: Non bank currency conversion

Can you use something like Revolut? Not for physical cash but for loading onto a card from a bank account and then using for payments in any currency (or onward payment to another account in another currency) works well.

Taxi recommendation

Does anyone have a recommendation for local taxi firm that would do early morning airport run taking 2 people plus 2 large bike boxes. Would need to be something like a VW transporter or Mercedes VIto, I would guess.

Re: Alleyn's Students Show Spirit to Secure Record A Level Sucesses

Do these schools publish real details of what grades they achieve. Ie total number of a levels sat and split of grades, by subject for all those a levels. I always find these articles a little light on detail. Or is it just me? Every school tells you they have achieved fantastic results but really h...
