Re: Help with tidying and home organisation needed

https://www.simplifystuff.co.uk I used Lizzie at Simplify Stuff to declutter and organise before maternity leave and she is amazing - really transformational. She is based in Balham but can travel all over SW London including Battersea. I want to get her back again though since children’s toys and p...

Re: Nursery list around Northcote Road area

A few more suggestions: Our son goes to Bluebells nursery by Battersea Park - SW11 although probably the wrong end for you if you are by Northcote Road. It is a small, warm and nurturing environment and all the children seem very happy there. My son is learning quickly and has made lots of friends. ...

Re: Chelsea & West or St Thomas?

A quick update - I switched to C&W and am feeling very happy and relieved about my decision. They called me back the day after I emailed them, and were able to put a scan and a booking-in appointment in the diary within ten days of the phone call.I know admin isn't everything but it does give re...

Re: Speech therapy in Battersea/Clapham

Thanks so much for your recommendations, everyone. We ended up booking a trial session with Lisa Campbell of Campbell Chats, and my son loved her - he asked when she could come back and play with him again. We are having a series of half-hour sessions with her to address the trickiest consonant soun...

Re: Chelsea & West or St Thomas?

I'm currently in the middle of making the same decision. I had my first child at C&W, and had a good experience there. It wasn't an easy birth but I felt well taken care of during the whole process. I booked into St Thomas's for my second, because it is more convenient for work, but have not bee...

Re: Newton Prep Apple Nursery

Thanks so much again to everyone who replied - all your responses are very helpful. I think we're still inclined towards Newton. We need to look round Eaton House the Manor but Newton's being closer, and the fact it is co-ed (our son really enjoys playing with girls as well as boys, and I think it w...

Speech therapy in Battersea/Clapham

My son, who will be three next month, has some speech delay. It is not language delay - his vocabulary is fine and so is his sentence structure - but a problem with producing speech sounds, especially consonants, which other children of his age don’t seem to struggle with. These include c, g, and l....

Re: Newton Prep Apple Nursery

Thank you Ramadoo (and everyone else) for your comments. It sounds as if we’re in very similar situations - and I appreciate that it’s a relatively lucky situation to be in. We’ve just had the confirmation of our place at Eaton House The Manor reception and request to pay the deposit this year (so b...

Re: Newton Prep Apple Nursery

Thanks very much again for your thoughts. That’s more or less my thinking at the moment. Taking up the nursery offer gives us a guaranteed place at NP - we can always look around next year if we aren’t 100% convinced by that point. He does like his current nursery but quite a few children from there...

Re: Newton Prep Apple Nursery

Thanks very much @hellokittyerw, @theparsleysong and @NinaB - that is all really interesting and helpful.

Re the setting, do they stream or set for all subjects, or do they just set for a few? At 2.5 it is hard to tell how academic he will be.

Re: Newton Prep Apple Nursery

Thanks @blondieberry, that sounds very reassuring. We are lucky to have lots of good schools near us (well - nearish, if you count Clapham, Chelsea, Belgravia/Victoria as close), and it’s hard to decide what will suit an individual child when they’re still quite young. I think what we want is somewh...

Re: Newton Prep Apple Nursery

Thank you @nycmommy. Warm and down to earth are two of the things I was looking for in a school. My MIL would really like him to go to Thomas’s (possibly to make friends with Princess Charlotte!) but I just thought Newton sounded a bit more rl axed. We have a couple of other places at all-boys’ scho...

Newton Prep Apple Nursery

My son has just been offered a place at Newton Prep Apple Nursery for 2018 entry. He’s very happy at his current pre-school (he’s only been there for half a term but loves it) and I would ideally keep him there until reception. However, the place at Apple Nursery would guarantee him a place at Newto...
