Re: Husband's financial deceit means son now can't go to private school

This must be a very difficult time, to find out your husband has been hiding the truth of things from you. I’m sorry you’re going through this. Your post asks how to tell your son. I think if you have the time (he’s not already telling his friends where he’s going) then do as much research as you ca...

Re: Keep finding massive spiders in the bedroom!

It’s difficult to tell how big they are but if they’re as big as they look in the photos I wonder if they’re escaped pets from a neighbour. A friend of mine had that happen to her! I don’t know how you’ve stayed calm, I would have moved and got pest control in I think!

Re: Pros and cons of a first floor maisonette

We used to live in a maisonette on the first floor. Although access to the garden was down some stairs I would absolutely always go for the first floor as you then don’t have the noise of someone walking around above you and you don’t have the risk of leaks from upstairs coming through to your prope...

Re: SwimWay swimming school - WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

I understand fully how frustrating it is to miss paid for lessons of any kind because your child is ill but I don’t see how Swimway or any other company should be expected to make up the loss and lose out. Swimway are not able to have someone else attend an individual lesson to make up the cost and ...

Re: Swimming lesson for 4 years old

Swimway are superb. More expensive for 1:1 but value for money in terms of swim time they get compared to group lessons and the quality is amazing. My daughter was swimming on her own after half a term when she had just turned four and had been in armbands until then.

Re: Managing part time pre school hours with work

I’ve seen it work a few ways: One option is to see if any of the teachers or assistants at the school (or another pre-school) want a job in the afternoons and holidays as a nanny. That has worked well for a family I know. Another is to have care from 12 or 3 but then what do you do in the holidays. ...

Re: SwimWay swimming school - WOULD NOT RECOMMEND

Both my children have swimming lessons with Swimway and specifically with Alejandro.  My eldest learnt to swim very quickly (half a term) and is super confident now which is amazing given she didn't even want to get in the water at the start of her first lesson.  Alejandro was very calm in his appro...

Re: References for a CV

Don’t worry about putting references on your CV, no one will expect to see them on there. You’ll be asked for them if you’re offered and accept as the previous poster said.

Good luck!

New front door - recommendations please!

We would like to install a new front door - stronger, good fit, high quality finish - with stained glass. If anyone has any recommendations (not the London Door Company who we used in our old house and wouldn't use again) or experience of Cotswood or Ayrton it would be really appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Formula milk

I always took the small ready made cartons with us to save the hassle of finding it abroad. Split between the suitcases it’s not too bad but worth the extra luggage payment if needed for peace of mind. I might be remembering this incorrectly but we needed one extra for the plane journey back one tim...

EFEJ - I've checked with our nanny and unfortunately it's not enough hours for her even with the Monday full day during term time.
