Re: Farting dog - help!

There may be a nice(r) way to approach this: "oh, he does smell doesn't he? We could never agree to get a dog as we always end up accusing one another of farting after you leave!" "it's true, some breeds are prone to being a bit gassy. I would try another dog food and see if that help...

Re: A shave between the legs between the Commons

Sorry I don't know where mens waxing is to be found...plenty of recos already though, which brings me to my point: It's really common these days for men to be groomed. As already mentioned, for operations they would shave the area, but if it's waxed first, there would be almost nothing to shave and ...

Re: Before you do IVF Must read!!!!

I also think the wording is really negative and unprofessional, best ignored perhaps, in any case those spaces will fill up regardless.

From my own perspective, if you're trying to conceive, make sure you are trying regularly ;)

Wishing all mums-in-waiting a romantic & fruitful Christmas!

Re: How much pocket money for 7 yr old?

I think pocket money should be a token amount. While I like the idea of losing 10p for very naughty behaviour, I agree it should not be a payment for chores or good results. A quiet trip to the cinema or toy shop can be a reward for doing well, and it keeps the value of special family time. It's not...

Re: Meter reading error - how cross to get?

I'd love some input - normally I'm quite self-assured and would throw my toys out my cot but in this circumstance I feel like I'm picking on someone with a disability and then on the other it almost cost me a lot of money and then... It is wonderful to see so many issues raised here with care and c...

Re: Men's Health concern

I suppose my question would be - how much water does he drink? I need to go every 1-2 hours because I feel the need to drink a lot of water. I think it's healthy. I do try to "hold" for a few minutes so I don't become dependent on having a loo. In the heat, I drink more but need to go less...

Re: Dull question....

This is not a dull question! In my experience (red wine spills at parties + coffee sludge from clearing out the nespresso + dog on heat + dog sick + dropped curry spoons + etc etc) the best product for spot cleaning is the Dr Beckmann carpet cleaning brush (attached to bottle of solution - google it...

Re: Husband doesn't want me to drink

When my husband & I met we were both heavy smokers. After years of thinking about it, I cut down, I quit, he quit...sort of! I don't love it that he still smokes occasionally but I know he really enjoys it, and that's enough for me. I've adopted a vegan diet which can be really hard to work arou...

Re: Child sometimes hurts herself when frustrated - advice on how to deal with this please...

I have no experience in your position, so no advice as such...ony your post struck a chord with me. But when I was 5 years old my mother was away in hospital with my sick sister for long periods of time and I started pulling my hair out in bed (probably because the darkness, the privacy allowed me t...

Re: 80th bday present ideas - HELP!

I think it's a beautiful idea to give a family photography sitting as a gift. Find a local photographer you like the work of who will come to the house for a "lifestyle" session with the family or part thereof. They usually do a range of groups and poses. I have suggested this for a friend...

Re: Is it me?

If I was in your position, I would directly say "oh that sounds like a great night! I would love to come along next time, call me & I'll be there!" It could be they don't invite you because they think it's not your thing. Don't doubt yourself or feel rubbish. Life is too short! I think...

Re: Door steps salesman issue

I rarely even answer the phone during family time also. We have caller id but nothing - or hardly anything - can be as important as uninterrupted family time at home each evening. No amount of flowers, organic vegetables or meal kits can replace family life. OK it's sometimes endless squabbles &...

Re: Door steps salesman issue

I had a slightly dopey young girl ring my bell from this company & it was very difficult to shake her from my porch. Sorry but I don't like signing up for these schemes. I get given beautiful albeit simple bunches regularly. I'm not a "house & garden" person though... Glad to hear ...

Re: Weight loss expert

Sometimes its not as straightforward as energy in and energy out and there are other things at play like hormones and gut issues and she'll help you get to the bottom of it. Sounds like a good starting point. I am also reading The Diet Myth by Tim Spector, it is pretty life changing. Worth a read. ...

Re: Weight loss expert

I think you've done the right thing consulting with professionals first. I would have hoped they could find something though! Maybe taking time to listen to your body is what is needed. Everyone is different. Some people need to snack. Some people thrive on extra carbs. Whatever it is, there's a &qu...
