Re: Chestnut Grove zebra crossing plans are a yes

My reading of the results is that a healthy majority of respondents are in favour of either the full proposal or are in favour of the pedestrian crossing, but not the right turn restrictions. As the point out the crossing without the right turn restriction would be a hazard. The crossing is to aid t...

Re: Lambeth LTN protest

Dear Community Ed, Do you really want to be sharing a poster that is full of misinformation? LTNs are divisive for sure, and it's good that all people affected have their voices heard, but debate and dissent should be based on good research and factual information. Pollution on boundary roads is not...

Re: How to manage taking children out of fee paying school mid- year

hello, We moved our daughter from one primary school to another age 9. It was after Easter, as that was when a place became available. She was slightly apprehensive in the lead up, but absolutely fine and happy after her first day at the new school. She has since gone on to a high school where she d...

Re: Planning permission to install air conditioning in Wandsworth: who has experience? Recommended installers?

To second the comment from SW18_Dad my recommendation would be to go with an air source heat pump. Then you would have an energy-efficient way of cooling for the whole house, and should you want to use it for heating in the future, it would be less complicated and costly.

Re: Councillors support plan to improve Burntwood Lane walking and cycling corridor

I’m very much in favour of these plans. Burntwood Lane is unsafe for cyclists and cycling infrastructure improvements are making cycling a safe and affordable way for Londoners to travel. It’s right that public space is shared more equitably between people who have the means to own a car, and those ...

Re: Fun and supportive 11+ test preparation - summer camp 2023

My daughter attended a week long summer course with Confident Revision. This was her only tuition for the Wandsworth Test, she also had practice books and tests to use at home. She felt ready and confident on the day and the result she achieved is testimony to both her effort and consistent practice...

Re: Looking for feedback on Burntwood School

hi, Coming back on this older thread. Would any Nappy Valley parents have more recent feedback on Burntwood? We too have been impressed by the school buildings, facilities and range of subjects on offer. If our daughter were to attend Burntwood it is unlikely that any of her primary school friends w...

Re: Eco retrofit Victorian House / infrared

Not sure how th...

After school nanny needed - Belleville Meteor pick up

Hello, We are looking for an after school nanny for our nine year old. This is to pick up from Belleville Meteor on Mondays through Thursdays. Hours are 3:20 until 6:30pm. You don't need to be qualified in childcare, but would need sound references. This would suit a graduate who's reliable and happ...

Re: I don't want to feed my son meat but my husband is insisting.

If your children are old enough, could they decide for themselves? It’s a shame that this has become such a polarized debate. Could some unbiased fact finding help with a neutral decision? Does your husband have a different view on the nutritional needs of your son versus your daughter? I wonder why...

Re: Experiences with Electric Cars

To avoid the Ulez charge you can buy any petrol car registered after 2004, any diesel registered from 2017 (some from 2015), or any car registered before 1981 (plenty of people in my locale seem to be doing the latter, which seems antithetical to TFL’s intention). Electric cars are not “green”, you...

Eco retrofit Victorian House / infrared

hi, We are starting a house refurb in Jan (loft conversion, new kitchen, windows, flooring) and we're keen to do what we can to make it energy efficient, low carbon, and to use sustainable materials. One option we're looking at is infrared heating . It seems more popular in Europe than here. I'd be ...

Re: IFA recommendations please

hello, In part it depends on what you are looking for. Many will use lifetime cashflow modelling to plan for retirement, some are specialised in tax avoidance, some will offer various levels of service priced differently (for example you could consolidate pensions & start investing, without payi...
