Re: We are looking for an after school nanny/housekeeper 2-3 days a week SW17- starting end Feb

Thanks Ramaboo - I tried them but they couldn't send me anyone (and that was just nanny, no housekeeping) - and friends have had similar experiences. Glad it's worked out for you as the idea is great. I might give them another go!

Re: Henry Cavendish & Rutherford House schools

Just in case anyone is still looking for information - I had 2 children who went through Ravenstone Primary - one only left in July - and I believe it has served them well. They are both well rounded, confident and caring individuals who are thriving at their secondary schools. Due to the "blip" wit...

Re: Recycling duvets mattresses and pillows

Most of the charity shops won't take them but I have listed mine on the "freebies" section of Gumtree and they have always gone. Someone very grateful will probably pick them up from you. Likewise on mattresses if they are in clean condition. I've successfully got rid of mine that way to people in n...

Re: private childrens swimming lessons

I've tried many of the swim schools over the years with my 3 kids - with varying quality and output.
My favourite is Swimway - and they do crash courses over the summer which are good - but it is expensive.
Cindy's swim school is also quite good but for us not as good as Swimway.

Re: A baby at 40

This is always going to end up being a personal decision. I, like you, always wanted a third baby but my husband was less keen as we already had 2 healthy ones. I also worked full time adding further stress. We did in the end go for it and I had a beautiful baby boy when I was 43. Shall I address th...

Re: Looked After Children- schooling advice

Dear DJG, As with everyone else it's wonderful you are adopting a 5 year old. I think the important thing to consider with schools in this situation is what is your new child used to, does he have any issues that need sensitive handling etc and what sort of environment will put him most at ease. One...

Graveney feedback please vs SCHS

Hi - does anyone have experience of preferably both SCHS and Graveney schools. Our D has been offered a place at Graveney in extension - our alternative is SCHS. Almost 2 extremes. I hear SCHS is very nurturing and of course there is the extra curricular benefits but think teaching and academics may...

Re: Advice for a Friend. Recent first time father being prevented access to his baby.

Hi Star - I read your initial ask or help with much sadness and also as shocked as you at how vitriolic some people can be in their responses. My Mum worked for years in difficult child care situations and my advice is as follows: 1) There is a charitable organisation called "Families need Fathers" ...
