Temporary accommodation for one week

Hi, our building works are not finished (what else is new) and we can't extend our temporary flat. Looking for some place local for us two and our daughter from June 1 or 2nd to June 7.  Would anyone have leads? One of you had contacted me about their basement flat when I had posted with a similar r...

Re: child to walk to school on their own?

Could you arrange to have a friend join him/her at least some of the way. My daughter started walking to school in Y5 but the school asked that they travelled with a friend.

That being said i have a feeling that the moped attackers are probably not early risers :-)

Re: girls weekend away in Europe, any suggestions...?

Oh so many possibilities: La Villa Douce in the south of France (hotel with spa on the beach at good prices), Caidalir Spa near Bordeaux, La Donaira in Andalucia, La Ferme du Vent in Brittany. All tbese places have beautiful spa and design and will have a good orice at those dates. You can check my ...

Temporary accommodation during renovation work- any lead?

Continuing on with my renovation-related questions, we will have to move out for at least 4 months from mid-January.  Anyone knows of a house sitting service that we could look at or does anyone intend to rent their flat/house during that period? We need two bedrooms and at least semi-furnished.  As...

Re: Downstairs toilets vs bigger kitchen

Thank you for your comments.  I may do another post asking someone if they have a tiny loo in the kitchen that we could visit to get an idea! @writerlady, thanks for your opinion too. Reading it, it's very tempting to do the same! We have two bathrooms, one on the first floor and one on the top floo...

Downstairs toilets vs bigger kitchen

Hi, we are currently planning a complete refurbishing of the kitchen and as part of that would like to create more space by removing the toilet that is currently occupying the back wall space. We could either move it to the space opposite the door to the cellar and make it quite small or get rid of ...

Re: Wandsworth Parking System change - warning for those who use visitor permits

They said they sent an email to help activate the new account but we never got one for both accounts we have. There is no number to call and they say to send an email to an address but “we have a lot of requests”. Our annual resident parking permit is ending next week and apart from creating a third...

Careful. Dishonest nannies using this forum

Hi Please be careful when being contacted by nannies referencing a post here to get a job. My glowing recommendation of our former nanny was used by other ladies contacting parents here and pausing as her. They used the information on my blog (which is in my signature here) to lean about our family ...

Re: What has happened to Nappyvalleynet

Agree on the mobile navigation issues. Just want to say though that the site has been a massive help over the past few years and that I am very grateful for the community here. The research function helped me many times to find a tradesman or activities for my daughter even years after the initial p...

Summer tennis "camp" for 11 yr old beginner?

Hi I did a search here but couldn't quite find the answer to the above: looking for a summer camp/course for our 11 y old daughter. It doesn't have to be full day but a few hours. I think there are such things on Clapham Common or Wandsworth Common but couldn't find the organisations that ran course...

Re: What DO we want on Northcote Road???

Walked by the former ParkRoad Kitchen shop this morning and saw a planning notice advertised. It's going to be a Manifesto restaurant, which according to the planning application, does pizzas. Not clear on the documents whether that'll be a kind of take away pizza place or a sitting down one.

Re: Kitchen companies - views on Blakes, Eclectic, Sola and others?

Thanks Pie81. Met with Holloways as well. They seem to push for a higher budget than what we have and said they wouldn’t want us to go through the design phase with them Unless we were sure we would commission them. Liked their all in one approach though so tempted but not sure the design is up to t...

Re: Kitchen companies - views on Blakes, Eclectic, Sola and others?

This is so helpful, thank you Pie81 for starting that thread and for telling me that there were no pm We had met Roundhouse and agree that Robyn’s taste is fantastic. We too wrote them off because of the price. The review here may make us reconsider it! Tempted by Blakes as Jamie seems a “can do” gu...
