Re: Human Being Diet or Intermittent Fasting

I've been following the 5:2 diet for two years.  I didn't read any book, just did it: as Carol2R says, you pick two days and then you only eat 500 calories that day.  I too chose Mondays and Thursdays.  The beginnings are difficult but stick to it for three weeks and then you'll see the weight drop ...

Re: Colette closing on Northcote Road

Good idea about a local committee. Businesses that plan to open could also use this for market research. I think they plan shops on Northcote road by looking at the average sold price of houses but it doesn't guarantee that people will actually spend money in local shops.  That committee could also ...

Re: Travelling now, would you do it?

So sorry to read about all  the stress you're going through.  Just this afternoon, there are leaks in the press that the red list may go so hopefully that will happen in time for your return https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/red-list-hotel-quarantine-uk-travel-restrictions-scrapped-grant-shapps-cov...

Re: Looking for volunteers

Hi, me and my daughter (14 years old) would be very happy to be involved pre Christmas as we'll be away around the day.  My daughter loves wrapping presents so feel free to add our names next to that task!  As regards tech, let me know what kind of help you need, I can certainly help a lot with comp...

Re: Travelling now, would you do it?

On the other hand, travelling is really quite easy at the moment because there are less people doing it. I travelled to France to finally see my family after 18 months for a weekend 10 days ago and it was a great experience. It's a faff to do all the testing and paperwork beforehand but once you fig...

Re: COVID VACCINE - why are Thurleigh Practice not putting any information on their website?

I’m 53 and with the practice and got my text on Friday. It might be because I am on two medications (not on the vulnerable list though). I take it as a good sign. Also the nhs national booking is now on 55+ so it should soon go down to the 50+. I jumped with joy when I got the text so totally unders...

Re: recommendations for Spain or Majorca

The only hotel that I know in Majorca to be on a beach doesn't accept children but if you are ready to go more inland, there are some fabulous places.  We stayed at Son Brull a few years ago and it was really great. My brother stayed in Predi Son Jaumel, which is really close to a beach. The new Finc...

Re: Fresh Sourdough Bread Delivered To Your Doorstep!

Hi Emily

What a great idea! I read your about page and your description of how we feel about bread in France brought back a lot of memories! I will definitely try it. If i subscribe today can I choose the delivery to be Tuesdays not Fridays?
Best of luck with your new venture

Re: Recommendations: Nice spa / hotels outside of London

Second Limewood, really lovely albeit quite a busy place.  The Newt in Somerset is incredible value for money if you manage to get a room.  Beautiful hotel with a spa that is not massive but is gorgeous and the ladies who give treatments are fabulous.  I have reviewed it on my blog and I also listed...

Re: Hotel in Paris

I have several recommendations for Paris on my blog but given your criteria, I would advise Hotel Breguet.  It's near Bastille so lots to do and see, easy walk to Le Marais and has a pool, a good restaurant and nice rooms. You can read my review here https://fromthepoolside.com/maison-breguet-review...

Re: Man on Bus

I agree with SouthLondonDaddy that a change of uniform will likely not stop those people. Better to teach our girls that this kind of behaviour is unacceptable, that they should defend themselves, find a way to deal with it when it happens (ignoring them, reporting them, asking another trusted adult...

Re: Man on Bus

That is concerning ad it is the fourth incident like this that i hear about in the past 3 weeks. One involved my daughter who was asked by a « Grey hair, tall, a bit of a tummy, wearing a smart coat » man on her train back from school where she was coming from etc. He got off at Clapham Junction The...

Bed linen rental

A friend kindly offers her house to accommodate my family when they come at Christmas while they are themselves away on holiday. I'd like to make it really easy for everyone by renting bed linens.  Has anyone used such a service before and would have recommendations?
Thank you
