Re: Police injured during illegal Brixton street party clashes

Mum1980 it sounds like you are, while not excusing the behaviour, saying the behaviour is understandable because of discrimination vs privilege. No it is not understandable - nothing excuses the vile out of control violence of this mob in Brixton on Wednesday night. Some people feeling very entitled...

Re: Coronavirus: UK supermarket rules on shopping with children

Thank you, I had wondered whether I'd be stopped when I took my 12 year old to Sainsburys Colliers Wood with me yesterday for a big shop. It was either that or leave her in the car for 40 minutes which I didn't want to do. Glad to hear the supermarkets are being sensible about it rather than imposin...

Re: School fees for next term

One of my kids is at boarding school and I'd be very upset if we aren't offered a refund/reduction in the boarding fees, not the tuition fees though. I hope they offer this before I have to ask for it. We know that this particular school has cash in hand of over £1million (the Head mentioned this in...

Re: New York hotel recommendations

Hi, we stayed in a suite at the Sofitel Midtown which was great. The sofa opened into a bed for the kids and the breakfast was really good. It's near a handy diner (The Red Flame) when we were tired after a long day and is about halfway so we could get up and downtown easily and walk to lots of plac...

Re: Marsha de Cordova speaks out after media mistake her for two other black MPs

I don't agree Starr - look at the photos above of Dawn Butler and Marsha de Cordova - I think they look very similar! in those photos. Just like some people do happen to resemble other people whatever their race and there doesn't have to be anything sinister about it. Making out it's yet another sig...

Re: Marsha de Cordova speaks out after media mistake her for two other black MPs

In fairness to the member of the BBC staff that used the picture, the women in the photos do bear more than a slight passing resemblance to one another! I doubt it was a case of them thinking that all black people look alike - this was the bbc after all, hardly known as a hot bed of racism thesedays...

Re: Hefty court fine for man who claimed he was immune from planning laws

I was also pleased to find out that he now knows that actually the laws do apply to him and that he will end up in prison if he doesn't toe the line. What a total flippin' nightmare neighbour!

Re: How I’m voting to Labour to Remain in Battersea and why I’ve done a tactical vote swap to help the Lib Dems.

Guy has been screaming on here for 3.5 years from his echo chamber for a Peoples' Vote and he bloody well got one, so thank God that's all over red rover 😜 !!

Recommendation for will writer

Hi, can anyone recommend a really good local will writer? Or even not local, if they can do over the phone. Thanks!

Re: Hotel in New York

I've just booked the Sofitel New York for myself and 2 kids. Wouldn't be my choice by a long shot if I was going sans-kids but they are great for families and we've stayed in loads of them. Well positioned, scrupulously clean, excellent breakfasts and good price if you need more than the usual 1 dou...

Re: Opinions wanted - 12 yr old commuting alone w/ headphones on

It's not over-protective. He needs to be aware of his surroundings when on the busy commute through London and he isn't when he's shut his hearing off. My son is a similar age and he's not allowed headphones on the school journey or to brandish his phone around (mugging risk). I know how you feel th...

Re: Nora Quoirin: Family say South London teen missing in Malaysia was abducted

So incredibly upsetting. That poor family. Stupid comments that don't add anything of course, I know. Prayers and love to her and the family and those at the church tonight.

Re: Aeroplane noise between the commons?

We haven't noticed any difference in the past few years (Wandsworth Common, sw17). Obviously we hear and see the planes distantly on their way to Heathrow but not noisy enough to bother us.  (btw, very annoying and unnecessary to preface a comment with, "sorry, but first world problem..."!...
