Re: Opinions wanted - 12 yr old commuting alone w/ headphones on

Here’s my tuppence worth. Too many people use the headphones to completely tune out of their surroundings, often to extremely dangerous degrees. On at least two occasions when turning off the main road in my residential area, I have had young pedestrians stride right out into the road in front of me...

Re: Advice on estate agents

I am a mortgage advisor, so therefore have dealt with a fair share of estate agents over time! I have enough secondhand experience of Purple Bricks and their like to tell you that it’s probably not worth it. First of all, they will tell you that they don’t take commission. Technically speaking this ...

Re: Converting coal hole/cellar into utility room

Just an addendum to my original post. I've spoken to the guy in charge of the firm and he says excavating vertically is not in fact a problem, as it should have minimal effect on the structure and he'd outsource that part of the work to a specialist anyway.

Re: Converting coal hole/cellar into utility room

If it's just renovation of an existing space you're looking for, then I would recommend Hilltop Construction. A very solid building firm they do a lot of high-spec stuff, but definitely don't do excavation work at all.

Their number is 020 36270051.

Re: advice on investment/ savings

They're rather different kinds of investment vehicles, so it's difficult to compare the two. For example, a bond isn't a tax exempt wrapper (while an ISA is) but might be appropriate for you given your tax status. Furthermore, you can be locked in with a bond for a significant period of time, and th...

Re: What should I call it?

We'd have to know a little more you and your business a little better before offering serious suggestions! I'm sure your business is something which is quite personal to you, I think, and a brand name needs to be carefully considered to reflect both that, and exactly how you aim to position yourself...
