Re: Mole removal

My daughter had to have a mole removed and we were recommended (by one of the top dermatologists at St George’s) Andrew Fleming who works at Parkside. He’s a cosmetic surgeon so got a great result. Also has a really lovely manner with young people.

Re: Partner saying no to me not returning to work to be a full time mum.

My children are a lot older and I can look back over their upbringing, and their friends’. I was in the same position as you, I’d intended to go back but found it very hard to leave my baby. I gave up a good career and although we had to give up a few luxuries I haven’t regretted it for a minute, an...

Re: husband not willing to pay for daughter's uni fees despite paying for our son

Liberal arts is a well-structured course offered by most of the top universities, in which students can access teaching from different faculties - in some cases this even includes sciences - and gain skills such as critical thinking which make graduates attractive to employers. It’s not an art degre...

Re: Everyone's Invited

It is a real problem but absolutely not confined to London or private schools. A friend moved her family to Surrey and the stories I heard from her when her children were young teens were worse than anything I heard in London with that age group. I think the problems are caused in large part by what...

Re: School fees for next term

The amount saved by furloughing a small amount of non-essential staff for two months wouldn’t add up to a substantial refund once spread across all the pupils. If parents are happy to accept a token amount then that would be ok, but something tells me many won’t be! They’ll want a large reduction an...

Re: School fees for next term

In answer to Daddydaycarerocks- if schools are forced to reduce their fees then people will lose their jobs and the quality of education after all this is over will be less. In these times you can’t take the approach ‘I paid for a service and they’re not providing it’. They are providing it in the b...

Re: teenage boy staying over with girlfriend

He’s over 16 which is the age the law has decided is acceptable, and as others have pointed out if they want to have sex they will be doing it somewhere. Far better to be open about an activity which is legal and normal at this age. The most important thing with teenagers is to keep lines of communi...

Babysitting and childcare offered

My 19 year old daughter has just finished her first year at university and has previously done a lot of babysitting and after-school care for local families. She is available to do evening babysitting (£8/hr) and day care (£10/hr) from now and through the summer, as well as other jobs such as cat fe...

Re: ULEZ Expansion Announced

I agree anything that cuts pollution has to be welcomed but what worries me is that all the worst polluting vehicles will be channelled around the South Circular and using the neighbouring streets as rat runs. Given the high concentration of children in the area this can’t be a good thing. Far bette...

Re: Honeywell School or local private prep?

I’ve done both with different children - private all the way through and Honeywell then private. The child who went to private prep wishes he’d gone to Honeywell. This is my experience but I do have some inside knowledge too. As others have said, what they actually learn is more or less the same. Wh...
