Re: What has happened to Nappyvalleynet

Hi, me again, looking for dentists.   So the search function seems to have changed, but it just gives me single posts, not conversations.  I know there are longer conversations in the site somewhere as I have seen them before, but I can't see them in the search function.  Is it still being updated? ...

Re: What has happened to Nappyvalleynet

Hello, I must be missing something but I am struggling to figure out how the new search function works.  I want to find some posts about local dentists but when I search 'dentist' or 'recommend dentist' or 'local dentist' all I get is a long series of results that don't seem to have anything to do w...

Re: Great swimming classes for children

My 10yo dd did Kimberley's swim clinic for the second time at Easter. She made great progress in front crawl at the first clinic, and made further progress, particularly with diving in and tumble turns, at this second clinic. The clinics are excellent value for money as the children progress so much...

Re: Save Ridgway Stables in Wimbledon! Please help.

The possible closure of Ridgway stables has been featured in the SW London press as well as in the Evening Standard and on ITV London news. Many thanks to those of you who have signed the petition to prevent the closure of these historic stables, there are now over 8,000 signatures. It would be abso...

Re: Looking for unusual ideas for birthday parties for boys

Some great suggestions here but I also wanted to mention that there's a go-karting track in Mitcham that does party packages for 8+. My children (including teenagers!) have all enjoyed parties there.

Sharky and George and Bertie & Boo also do great parties for younger children.

Save Ridgway Stables in Wimbledon! Please help.

My daughter has been riding at Ridgway Stables in Wimbledon for the last few years. She absolutely loves it, as do many other children (and adults!). Sadly this 35 year old riding school is now under threat due to the private landlord not allowing the stables' lease to be renewed. Please can you hel...

Re: Mayfield gymnastics

My daughter has been at Mayfield since she was 4 and she is now 10. She is just a recreational gymnast and doesn't do competitions. For us Mayfield has been great, not pushy at all. My daughter did a bit of pre-squad training for a term or so when she was about 7, but she didn't really like it and I...

Re: Teenage scammers "Fundraising" door to door for football clubs

This is so annoying, I gave some boys a few quid in Dulwich Park a few weeks ago. They were from "Lambeth Lions" too and they were getting loads of dosh. I will know better next time. If anyone rings the door asking for cash I just say "sorry I've been scammed before and I no longer g...

Re: pesky leg veins!

I tried sclerotherapy but to be honest I don't think it has helped much. Plus it was expensive and uncomfortable. I went to Harley Medical group, they were very nice but I was hoping to be rid of the veins and there seem to be just as many 2 years later! If anyone else has any ideas I would love to ...

Re: Am I being selfish? Caring for husbands father?

In my opinion, you are not being selfish at all. He is not your father, and even if he was I would expect the other siblings to contribute significantly. Even if you liked him most people would advise you not to take on this carer's role. None of you have any idea how long he will need care, and the...

Re: Do you tip delivery drivers?

I tip takeaway delivery drivers a couple of quid, but that is easy as I already have the money out..... I tip the supermarket delivery guy a fiver at Christmas, but never otherwise. It's never the same person twice, I think if it was then I might be more inclined to tip. Our lovely postman gets a te...

Re: Spectre (latest James Bond film)

We took my 8 year old despite my misgivings, my husband said it would be "fine". My 8 year old is quite sensitive and I spent all the violent scenes with my hand clapped over her eyes! Luckily she hasn't had any nightmares but she really didn't enjoy it and I won't be taking her to another...

Re: A to A* results for 2015 A Level

Just wanted to say that I know several children who have done or are doing their A levels at some of the aforementioned independent schools who did not get A* at GCSE in the subject they are now studying....just saying. I don't think all the independents are as cut-throat as some are making them out...
