STRIPPING PAINT FROM DOORS

Has anyone had experience of having their doors stripped professionally (by an individual or company) i.e. having them chemically dipped & stripped ?  If so, could you recommend (or not recommend!) anyone?  We have some pine doors on which there are layers of paint.   Many thanks.

Re: Nasty nationalist propaganda being pushed in our schools.

To:  GuyD73.  What’s wrong with promoting …  One Britain, One Nation?   Isn’t that what everyone should be striving for?  You might not encourage your children to strive for it, but I certainly would - & perhaps your children might like to choose themselves as to whether they sing it or not.   The ...

Re: CLAPHAM COMMON - ADDITIONAL LIGHTING NOT NEEDED

To Josey Paigan.  Parks & night lights are an oxymoron.  Clapham Common, in particular, should most certainly not be lit up at night.  It’s a Common, not a fun fair.  As for ‘.. choosing between nocturnal birds & people’s safety’, it’s not a tough choice at all:  there’s actually no choice.  You sho...

Re: An appeal for empathy

Kindness to others and empathy in such matters should be taught at school, & from an early age.  It's a waste of time suggesting it be taught at home.  Some kids - probably large numbers - come from families who don’t know the meaning of the word ‘empathy’.  If you rely on family to teach it, you m...

Re: in laws offering to pay for son not daughter schools fees

Well said, Firsttimer.  Misogynists clearly alive and well in the Britain of 2021.  Her in-laws too are a disgrace - don't care how old they are.  Poor woman - marrying into a family of such Neanderthals.

Re: CLAPHAM COMMON - ADDITIONAL LIGHTING NOT NEEDED

To:  My Little Man:   You have raised a valid point but what has surprised us is that exercise classes on the Common (for which a Licence is needed by the Local Authority) are, or were, held at 06.15 in the dark months in a part of the Common which – from what you say – could only be reached by hav...

Re: Dermatologist

Why wouldn't you go to your GP for advice on this condition?  Particularly if you're seeing a ' ... suspicious looking spot'.  Your GP can refer you to a Dermatologist if necessary.

Re: CLAPHAM COMMON - ADDITIONAL LIGHTING NOT NEEDED

To:  CoffeeClub Yes - 28,000 who clearly didn’t give a fig about the environment, Light Pollution, the night sky, the adverse effects on biodiversity & wildlife, wastage of energy, the fact that there’s no scientific evidence that increased lighting deters crimes.  28,000 who, in a swell of hysteri...

Re: CLAPHAM COMMON - ADDITIONAL LIGHTING NOT NEEDED

Thank you, Dudette, for your positive reaction to my post (Clap. Common - Additional Lighting not Needed).  Like the ill-judged Petition itself, the 'Community Editor's' comments in her today's email were equally ill-judged.

Re: CLAPHAM COMMON - ADDITIONAL LIGHTING NOT NEEDED

Thanks to all for supporting my point that that the ill-thought-out petition for increased lighting on the Common was indeed a terrible idea.  The ‘Community Editor’ (aka Annabel I believe) in her original post might have described it as a wonderful ‘initiative’:  in fact, it was the reverse.   She...

Re: Clapham vigil turns violent

Sarah Everard's memory and her family's grief were well & truly hijacked by the disgraceful scenes on the Common on 13 March - if the protesters even thought about that.  They must have known, in advance, that the police might move in to disperse the gathering & could have moved off calmly - but cho...

Re: Help Make Clapham Common Safe

Thank you, Janee & Muddyboots, for supporting my comments relating to the proposal to increase lighting on the Common.  I've today posted a new topic on this subject (headed Clapham Common - Additional Lighting Not Needed), inviting people opposed to the Petition to write to the relevant person in L...

CLAPHAM COMMON - ADDITIONAL LIGHTING NOT NEEDED

Sarah Everard was not abducted on the Common.  In the wake of her tragic murder and the ensuing hysteria relating to safety and the Common, it’s time now to take a deep breath & accept that a petition to increase lighting on it was a knee-jerk reaction.      Sarah’s memory and her family’s grief ha...
