Re: Parking in Balham is being restricted more and more

Well said, Chorister. Muddy Boots:  You're just 'popping in' to get something quickly or collect a parcel - yet you need a car to do that!?!  Unbelievable.  Unless you're disabled, the word lazy springs to mind. Living locally, most of us CAN walk to the shops & do our shopping.  In the real wor...

Re: Want to sell unwanted clothes but don’t have the time?

Hello, Lisa:  I'm also interested.   Is it just clothes (& shoes presumably) ?  Do DM me & let me know please how it all works.  Many thanks.  Dimelda.

Re: Is it irresponsible to leave our three children under 16 home alone overnight?

The Quays:  Why on earth are you asking strangers on this website to answer your question - people who'll largely be unqualified to answer it?  Why haven't you consulted the law for the answer?   Look up the appropriate Govt. website or the NSPCC.  Goodness me.

Re: Laundry facilities. Cellar or first floor?

Starr:  You have a point but, if houses in this country were designed properly, space should always be allocated for a separate laundry room - on whatever floor.   But no - most seem to prefer 'fashionable' massive kitchens, with heaps of wasted space .... leaving no room for a separate laundry, wh...

Re: Laundry facilities. Cellar or first floor?

First floor.  It's a no-brainer.  After all, most items washed in a washing machine are clothes, bed linen & bath linen ...  all of which live on the upper floors.  Why would you have it anywhere else?  One place a washing machine should never be is in the kitchen!  A kitchen is for washing dirt...

Re: What car should I buy?

Why buy a car at all?  You & the children walk to school, you live in London with a myriad of public transport, & at the weekends you can use the train.   For the odd occasion when you might genuinely need a car, you could hire one, or take an Uber.  Unless you're disabled, you don't need to...

Re: Au pair walking around virtually naked

This post was originally published - and resolved - in Oct. 2013, repeat 2013!   Why on earth has Admin revived it?  It's ridiculous.

Re: Front garden renovation

Don't know if you're planning to pave over the whole of the front 'garden' - if so, that's the worst thing you can do.  A front garden is just that:  a garden.  i.e. for plants, shrubs & small trees.  Not for pavers.

Re: Food waste collections for all in Wandsworth

To all you Neanderthals living in Wandsworth.   So you're finally getting food waste bins, which we've had in Lambeth for years.  They're both hygienic and fox-proof, & quite rightly will be mandatory.  If you choose to chuck them away, remember they're not your property - they're the property ...

Re: Daughter wants to dye dog

What a truly stupid (original) post.  Apart from anything else, it can be DANGEROUS to dye a dog - I'm surprised the woman and her daughter don't know that.  They should seek proper advice on the subject - from a vet, or from the Dogs Trust, or similar organisation.   -

Re: Advice on getting a puppy cocker spaniel ?

Local Happy Mum:  Why on earth are you thinking of getting a dog from a breeder?!!  There's any number of non 'show type' dogs in rescue centres looking for loving homes.  Do the right thing & get one of those instead.

Re: Dog attack on young children in Battersea Park

Couldn't agree more with Muddyboots.  These wretched XL bullies.  They should all be 'culled' (humanely of course) so that there are no more in the UK.  At all.  There's no other way around it.
