Graffiti everywhere at playground in Clapham Common Northside

I was really upset to see so much graffiti on the playground in Clapham Common Northside. This playground is really falling out of disrepair. They closed it a few years ago for ages. I was hopeful there would be revamp, but all the council did was take out the sand pit. Before this playground falls ...

Re: NEWTON PREP 2019

We moved our son mid year in Year 1. He loved his old school so we had to make him comfortable with the move. We told him he was going and then here are a few things we did: 1) Took him to visit his new school (school tour) 2) Took him to spend a morning in his new school - this was great as he got ...

Re: Children’s entertainer needed for party

You could try Arty Party. https://artyparty.co.uk/parties

I haven't hired them for a party before but my kid does the Arty Party after school club and he loves it. His teachers are lovely.

Re: Child's party venue

If you just need a big space and a kitchen, check out the Battersea Scout Centre. I've done three birthday parties there now. It's easy to book, there is plenty of room and a kitchen. You have the whole facility to yourself. It's not fancy, just a hall. You tidy up when you leave and you get your de...

Re: Should curtains be this expensive?

I had a good experience with John Lewis. They are not cheap but I had good customer service. My curtains arrived later than anticipated, then when they did arrive, the fitter told me, there was a tiny bit more fabric than there should be (it was hardly noticeable). Anyway, because of this, I got £50...

Re: Not feeling good enough for husband's family

First of all. Remember, we are living in a bubble. Nappy Valley is a gorgeous place to live, but there's this immense pressure to go to private school, have a side return and a nice big car... You are living in that and then on top of that, you have your in laws who are well off. Maybe, just maybe, ...

Re: Baby's first Haircut

Trotters on Northcote Road give you a lock of hair with a certificate for baby's first haircut. (At least they did for my son 7 years ago but they are very likely to still do it).

Re: Police search for missing man from mental health facility

Be vigilant. A local resident saw an individual on Webbs Road the night before last (who she has identified as him). He was naked and shouting. She couldn't make out what he said as she turned and ran. He got into a Zip van and drove off. She has reported the incident to the police.

Re: What Does a Hairstyle Tell You?

I think you should let your kid have long hair if he wants it. My only criteria for my sons would be that it has to be tidy at school. So if it's really long then he has to tie it back in a band and as the last poster says, if he can't see, then trim the fringe or tie it back. If your son is willing...

Re: Can anyone recommend a family friendly place for News years eve dinner?

Hi, you might just need to ring around all the pubs and see where you can find availability:

The Alma in Wandsworth Town is lovely.
The Bolingbroke - Northcote Road
The Latchmere - Latchmere Road

That's all I can think of off the top of my head for now in Wandsworth.

Re: Swimming lesson for 4 years old

My kids go to South West Swimming School in Emanuel School. My eldest started when he was 5 and my youngest when he was 3. Both are confident in the water now. I've been very happy with their progress.

Re: Unauthorised Absence from School

I only ever did it once and my kids were off school for a day. I got an email from the school office saying the leave was unauthorised and that was it. I know lots of people in Wandsworth and other boroughs who have taken their kids out of state schools for skiing.  Obviously, you are not meant to d...
