SEN support at Emanuel School - advice from current parents only please

Hello, I'd like to hear from parents of kids with SEN at Emanuel at the moment and whether they are happy with the support their child is receiving. My son has mild SEN issues and Emanuel is my number one choice of school, but I have heard that the SEN department is not as strong as some of the othe...

Fridge repair man

Can anyone recommend a good fridge repair man?

I need someone with a kind manner as it's for my elderly mother who lives in Twickenham.

It's for an LG fridge, the ice dispenser is not working and I have no idea who to call out for her.

Any help is most appreciated.

How is your school streets scheme going?

Hi, has anyone got a school streets on their school road? I've got one on my school road and I think it's brilliant, but a small percentage of the local residents have complained, in my opinion, rather unfairly making parents feel like they have to keep their kids on a leash when apart from a few is...

Re: Recommendation for outside dining

The heaters at All Bar One actually keep you warm and it takes a while for them to automatically switch off so you don't have to get up every two seconds to switch them back on!

Re: National Curry Week - What's your fave SW curry house?

Definitely Clapham Tandoori at Clapham Common http://www.claphamtandooritakeaway.co.uk I've been going there for years with my family. We celebrated my husband's 40th there, I used to take my dad there who loved it and he's now passed away so it has a special place in my heart, and the food is great...

Has anyone succeeded in lobbying Wandsworth council to slow down traffic on their road?

I need some advice please. It's about a blind corner which I live on on Clapham Common Northside. It's the corner of Sisters Avenue and Thirsk Road where drivers bomb down as a thoroughfare between Clapham Common and Lavender Hill. Did anyone hear the massive thuds on Wednesday night at around midni...

Re: Police injured during illegal Brixton street party clashes

Hi @parsleysong. I didn't say anywhere that I excused, condoned, accepted, understood, or justified the behaviour in any way shape or form - in fact, I said quite the opposite. White privilege is not an American import. It would be incredibly naive for anyone in the UK to believe that we don't have ...

Re: Police injured during illegal Brixton street party clashes

@daddydayrocks, I see you have edited your original post to include the Black Lives Matters movement. Can I just clarify that this incident had nothing to do with the movement. There was a small music protest earlier on in the evening which 20-30 people attended in Windrush Square and was finished b...

Re: Police injured during illegal Brixton street party clashes

@daddydaycarerocks, I'm not sure where they are supposed to leave to? The majority of Brixton residents are British and it's not up to you to decide if they are welcome or not. I agree this is awful and those who broke the law should face the law, but I wonder if they were white kids, if you would h...

Re: How is your (state) primary doing home learning?

Hi, my kids go to state school. I've been really happy with the school's provision of homeschooling resources. We have been told not to stress and to try to do some maths and English every day at a minimum if possible but the teachers also encourage activities that are not on the schedule like cooki...

Re: Visiting 83 year old parents 200 miles away ..........

Errr... @chorister - there is nothing in my post that suggested that the overstretched critical care nurses are exaggerating, hence I have said that @thelmaandlouis should not go. I just choose to sympathise with her because it is tough when you live so far away from your elderly parents who probabl...

Re: Visiting 83 year old parents 200 miles away ..........

My goodness, this is a tough one and the other posters are being rather harsh - but I'm afraid your husband is right. It's so difficult with elderly parents especially in isolation. Can't you just send them food/Easter treats or ask a neighbour to help? Just ask yourself if it is essential to go - i...

Re: Is it ok to put up Easter decorations?

Yes, it's OK. If anything it may put a smile on someone's face walking past who really needs it. That is why we are all putting pics of rainbows and teddies in our windows - to brighten up the street and someone's day. I don't think it's insensitive at all. We all need to keep in high spirits. Happy...

Re: Disney Land Paris trip

We stayed at the 'Cars' hotel - I think it's called Hotel Santa Fey. It was the cheapest of all the Disney options as we booked it so last minute so did not get any deals. The hotel was fine, clean and there was a shuttle service to the amusement park. The only thing was there was no pool. We were o...

Re: Swimming Lessons for 3 year old

My kids go to South West Swimming school at Emanuelle School. The lessons are a bit pricey but it's the only place where my kids have actually learnt how to swim properly. Staff are very good. We have been going for about three years now.
