Hi NVG.
Good to highlight but yes, all with the approval of parents in my case!

Re: Treat place for ear piercing.

Thank you all so much for these lovely replies. I think that I will check out the ages for Monica and also Astrid and Miyu on the Kings Road. I'm sure that she would enjoy a trip there and we have lunch too.

Treat place for ear piercing.

Can anyone point me in the direction of an ear piercing studio? I want to take my goddaughter, teenager, when she comes to visit next weekend for her birthday. Happy to take her to Selfridges or similar if they have a studio. Just wondering where a treat place might be.

Re: Hairdresser for teenage girl's hair and cost please.

I think that teenagers do pay full price for hair cuts, especially if they are having blow drys as well which they often seem to have. In fairness to salons it does take as much time to cut a teens hair, unless it is a straightforward trim as it does an adults hair. Expensive times ahead, no pun int...

Re: State Secondary School Offer Day 2024 - How places have been allocated at Wandsworth Secondary Schools

What school is he waiting on? I guess bigger schools will have more movement. I would think it sounds promising though.

Re: Husband wants me to ask friend to pay for parking permit when they leave car

We have had this conversation may times in our house. We have never asked anyone to pay, mostly because like the OP I would feel too uncomfortable. Usually people have offered, especially if staying a few days and when we have refused bought flowers or wine etc...

Re: Restaurant private space for baby shower

Brinkleys On Bellevue Road has a lovely space at the back that is semi private. We have been to a couple of school things there and more recently a big birthday for a friend. Works really well. Its partitioned off as opposed to totally separate but it is very private. Ivy in Wimbledon also have a pr...

Re: Brother has asked that we stand down on presents can I still buy them without causing offeence?

Depending on how well you and your brother get on could you buy something and give it to them from Santa? That would mean you having to get his approval. If he knows that you are better off he may not mind.

Solar Panel installation. Cost and process?

There's been a lot of discussion in my house about solar panels and whether we should make the investment. Has anyone done it and happy to share the rough costs? We live in a regular Victorian terrace and have a loft conversion, not sure if the latter would be an important point.

Re: When to stop buying presents for friends children

I would suggest that you stop at 16 or 18, both are 'main' birthdays and mark the move on to a new stage of school or life and it seems a good point to jump off. If it is something that you do along with other friends then maybe agree a milestone together.

Re: Are sustainable parenting groups a thing in SW London?

@Sustainable Parenting - welcome and congrats on your news!

Agree with the suggestions by @this-is-cat but there are also a couple of groups based around the commons - friends of Clapham Common and friends of Wandsworth Common. Would be worth checking them out for things to get involved with.
