Graveney issues anti-mugging manual after pupils targetted by moped gang

How distressing to see that a school has actually had to go this far. These are supposed to be happy, carefree days.

Anyone had their Xmas tree collected yet?

The Wandsworth website says that trees will be collected on your first collection day after Xmas. That means that I have had 2 collection days but still no tree collection! We have a street lined with trees - some now rolling around in the road. Can anyone let me know if they have had better luck in...

Basements, would you go half way or all the way under the footprint of the house?

Decided over the holidays that this is something we would like to start planning seriously for. Wondering if those who have done either of these options would be happy to share if they are happy with what they chose. There is non surprisingly a big difference in price between doing a half and full f...

Re: Advice please - where to get a hamper?

There was a post on here a few back just before Valentines Day from a local company making up hampers but I can't remember the name? Someone else might have a better memory!! What about one of the local wine companies or does it need to be food based? I'm sure that one of the local therapy places wo...

Re: How do I stop my MIL coming to stay for 3 months over Xmas?

I sympathise. My sister is married to a kiwi and she has in laws who plan way ahead and come for the lengthy periods of time. She often laments that she should have heeded the advice of friends who told her to start as she meant to go on regarding long stay visits. I guess this is a re set of sorts,...

Re: wife embarrassing in drink

A friend of mine was a diluted version of this. To be fair she was more loud, even ridiculous in drink than anything else but she has got much better over recent years and the main reason is confidence. I don't think that she ever felt happy with who she was and in company that made her nervous and ...

Re: has your xmas tree been collected?

Yes our Christmas tree is long gone. It was after our collection day which would have been 5th but it was gone by 9th so I guess they were overloaded. I do still see plenty of trees lingering about. There are several on St James Drive, on the common side of the road. Clearly dumped but I think it co...

has your xmas tree been collected?

For once I actually checked the Wandsworth Council website and read that they would collect trees from Jan 4th on your regular collection day. Mine should have been collected by now but is still sitting in the path :?  Just wondering if mine is a lonely straggler or if they are still to come? Thanks.

Re: Flower Delivery Driver Part Time

@ last two posters - how rude! This could absolutely be the dream job for someone. Maybe someone who has taken early retirement but is sociable and wants to keep busy, or alternatively a young adult who might have been a victim of the pandemic and is currently without work. There are loads of people...

Re: Next door vegan neighbours objecting to us barbecuing

I've been reading this thread with much interest and to be honest siding with the OP and then their vegan neighbour in turn. And i think that is the upshot. It isn't really one person or the other's fault. It's the OP's garden. She did the right thing at the right time and asked the preceding neighb...

Recommendations for shutters

Can anyone recommend a shutter company that they have used.

Also not sure what style to go for so I'd be very grateful to hear what others have chosen and if they are happy with their choice? Mostly pondering half or full window shutters? Thank you for any offers of help?

Re: Husband not helping with kids despite working from home

Maybe you could just tell him how you feel. Possibly when you next have some down time together? I am always amazed at what people 'miss'. It might not have occurred to him that the situation should be any different to normal? Why should it be, as others have pointed out it it is technically just an...
