Re: Invisalighn or fixed braces, advice please.

We just had an orthodontist consultation for my daughter and discussed the pros and cons of Invisalign vs train tracks. We were told that as she has crooked teeth, Invisalign would take longer as it’s not as efficient for straightening and turning teeth. You also had to wear them for around 22 hours...

Re: Treat place for ear piercing.

I second the recommendation for Maria Tash at Liberty but do call to check they have suitable earrings in stock first as they didn’t hold any matching plain gold studs in stock in store when I took my daughter. Only diamond studs were available which would have set me back £800 for the pair.

Re: What to cut out of private education if you can't do everything?

If you are in the vicinity of an excellent state primary (which you most likely are if you live in Nappy Valley, there are so many) then I would start them all off in state school. My daughter started in state and went to prep at aged 8 as that’s what she wanted to do and it was more suitable for he...

Re: How to help my teenage daughter with a weight issue?

Sorry. I meant to add that I have had the same with my teen daughter. She really didn’t like the phase of growing big boobs and her hips becoming curvy. She was often telling me that she looked fat when she was anything but fat. We’re out the other side a bit now as her friends eventually caught up ...

Re: How to help my teenage daughter with a weight issue?

You say she has put on a lot of weight in the last year, why is that do you think? Is it healthy weight she has put on? I.e. she is just maturing into her body and so her hips and chest are broadening? Or is she putting on unhealthy weight because she is eating a lot of crap (as teenagers can often ...

Re: What to do with my cheating husband?

I haven’t been in your situation but I can certainly empathise with you not wanting to end your marriage. I have been with my husband forever and if an infidelity was a one-off, I don’t think I’d want to end everything either (a full blown affair would be a different story). If I were you I’d probab...

Orthodontics

Does anyone have any recent recommendations for orthodontists for my 14 year old please? She has slightly wonky teeth at the front and won’t qualify for NHS treatment I don’t think. There are so many different options out there from train tracks, to Invisalign and Six Month Smiles. Ideally I’d like ...

Re: mother shouting and threatening to smack a child on the common

@Kirsty’s mum, I don’t see any question from her asking if she should have stepped in or not. Just the last sentence telling the mum (if she is reading) what she should do next time.

Re: Laundry facilities. Cellar or first floor?

Mine is in the cellar, my friend’s is on the first floor. I think my friend has the better set-up to be honest. Her kids put all their laundry in the laundry room as it’s on the same floor as their bedrooms. My kids just leave it all over their bedroom floor so I have to gather it all from all over ...

Re: Two or three year gap between siblings?

I have slightly less than 2 year age gap, but they are 2 school years apart. My first was very jealous when my second came along and that was normal amongst my friendship group at the time who all had similar age gaps. We are now in the teenage years and one thing I didn’t consider at the time is th...

Re: mother shouting and threatening to smack a child on the common

So you didn’t see what happened and you didn’t do anything to offer either the mother or the child any support at the time? Instead you go onto the internet to publicly judge and give a little lecture? Perhaps the child had just done something extremely dangerous that scared the living daylights out...

Re: Perfume for a teenager?

For proper perfume I’d get Miss Dior, the girls love it and it has a very pretty bottle that’s all over tiktok.

For an every day scent the girls all wear Sol De Janeiro.

Make-up, check out Glossier, Elf, Rare Beauty and Charlotte Tilbury.

Re: Fake grass

We have fake grass and I regret it. What with dog pee/poo, fox pee/poo and neighbours cat pee/poo, I find it really unhygienic no matter how quickly I pick up the poo or wash it with one of those outdoor wet vacuums. In the summer I’m having it pulled up and I’m going to pave it all instead so I can...
