Re: Parents to be consulted over plans to change sibling rul

I think a previous poster hit the nail on the head. The issue is that there are not enough places - pitting family against family doesn't help anything. I'm pleased about the crackdown on temporary residences, but I also confidently predict a rise in appeals and litigation over that one as it will c...

Re: Fraud re academic qualifications - WWYD?

Personally, I'd report it. He is in a position of trust, and may have lied. That's a serious matter. I think you should write (not call) the school and the Council to ask them to reconfirm the matter.

Re: Would this annoy you?

Yes it would. I once found out my children were at the Horniman Museum because i happened to call their nanny when they were there, which is miles from our place.

Time to have a chat about what you are comfortable with.

Re: How do children cope with going to the loo when at schoo

Our reception class had a classroom assistant, and I've always assumed she gave a hand where needed (perhaps wrongly - but there you go), but you should ask if you have any concerns about it. Otherwise you'll just worry!

Re: Husband's help with newborn

I too found some of the responses a little stern on this post. Still, to each their own. Each family finds their own rhythm. For us, my husband did the 11pm feed, and then I was able to get up to do the night feeds once I'd had some sleep. Gave me the chance to get enough sleep to feel I wasn't crazi...

Re: Looking for a roofer

I called Affleck services today on the basis of their post above at about 11am, and they said they'd call me back but never did. I am really not winning with roofers of any kind. Any other recommendations gratefully accepted for roofers - still have two leaks to fix.

Re: Looking for a roofer

a quick review of Paul Stranck for fellow NVNers - we had three leaks, and they quoted for one and said they'd look at the other two when they were there. they didn't - I kept asking when they were going to look at the other two, but kept fobbing me off (the chap fixing the roof told me he wasn't a ...

Re: Advice about nanny "perks" - extra income?

No, your nanny is very wrong. If you agree to this, you have a share those two days, and you pay share rates, assuming you are comfortable with the arrangements as you are entitled to say no to the share as her employer. I'd expect the other family to be giving me the money, and she gets a small upl...

Re: unfit nanny

If the nanny is on her phone for a long time or playing games, she's not keeping her eye on her charges nor is she being professional. I've also seen nannies ignoring the children they were supposed to be keeping an eye on. Once two nannies were so busy chatting, I had to chase one of their charges ...

Re: Sad news- 3 year old drowns in pool - safety reminder

Thanks for posting these links and information. This is a subject close to my heart as my two year cousin drowned in a neighbour's spa pool. I always encourage great vigilance around any pools or other bodies of water.

Re: Last minute birthday party cancellations. Opinions pleas

hi mungomuffit sorry just saw your message! no, it wasn't on a thread, it's some other local mums who told me that these days it's inevitable so best to get used to it. we now only do parties that aren't per head (might get harder as they get older), and i always have a few extra party bags for sibl...

Re: Last minute birthday party cancellations. Opinions pleas

I agree with you, but I seem to be in a minority on this point. I'm trying to chill out about it from now on and just accept there will be some last minute cancellations. It is very annoying when quite a large amount of cost is involved. Can you fill the spots with some last minute guests? We invite...

Re: The Romany - a new voice

As someone who's followed the debate from afar, the behaviour of the committee managing the sale has been disgraceful. I would think the members should be furious with them.
