Re: Please sign and share this petition to revoke article 50 and remain - nearly at 1m signatures!

I think if a (3rd) referendum can be achieved that would be the fairest representation of the democratic process, irrespective of the result.  'No deal', direct revocation or May's deal would be catastrophic on many levels.

Re: Please sign and share this petition to revoke article 50 and remain - nearly at 1m signatures!

Guy I admire your determination over this even if I do think you’ve gone a bit nuts over it (in the nicest sense of the phrase!). Today both the Chancellor and the Brexit Secretary said they would strike off both the ‘no deal’ and ‘revoke’ options off the ‘indicative’ list. I think my money is safe ...

Re: Please sign and share this petition to revoke article 50 and remain - nearly at 1m signatures!

Good morning. It’s funny how two people can look at the same thing and draw different conclusions. We’ll have to agree to disagree on this and wait to see the outcome. At least we live in a democracy where we can have this debate.

Re: Please sign and share this petition to revoke article 50 and remain - nearly at 1m signatures!

The European court stated that the uK Parliament could revoke Article 50 without referring to the other member states provided it complied to its normal democratic standards. However one of the conditions was that it could not be used for the purpose of delay. It seems pretty clear that it cannot be...

Re: Please sign and share this petition to revoke article 50 and remain - nearly at 1m signatures!

I can’t find any political commentary that believes Article 50 will be revoked before a referendum. Even the fiercely pro-EU, Financial Times puts it as unlikely.

With Corbyn being a Brexiteer it makes things very complicated to say the least.

Re: Please sign and share this petition to revoke article 50 and remain - nearly at 1m signatures!

I'll take that as a 'no' then.  By the way the status of the 2016 referendum is still being debated - https://fullfact.org/europe/was-eu-referendum-advisory/    My point on 'binding vote' you've misunderstood.  I don't understand how it would ever get to a point in a Commons vote where the outcome w...

Re: Please sign and share this petition to revoke article 50 and remain - nearly at 1m signatures!

Happy to take either option.  Even less likely without a General Election as there would be no mandate for it.  Assuming the majority of Parliamentary M.P's are against leaving the EU, the majority of Parliamentary seats voted to Leave.  Both leaders of the major parties are either Brexiteers and/or...

Happy to take a bet that there will not be a revocation of Article 50 without a referendum or general election.

Re: Please sign and share this petition to revoke article 50 and remain - nearly at 1m signatures!

Won't and can't happen, happy to take bets.  Parliament will not revoke Article 50 without a referendum and I don't think it's possible to suspend it.  It would be wholly unconstitutional.  Bearing in mind (as I understand it) the majority of Parliamentary seats voted Leave, M.P's will not be the tu...

Re: SUMMER TERM TENNIS PROGRAMME & EASTER HOLIDAY CAMP AT CLAPHAM COMMON - BOOKING OPEN!

Just a quick update.  The 4pm sessions for the after school programme are filling fast (Monday already gone).  Easter is also just around the corner and don't forget we have the all day tennis & football option.

Many thanks as always,

Re: What DO we want on Northcote Road???

This weekend 'The Hive Shop' closes, and they are having a closing down sale of all things honey related.  Only a handful of independent traders left now outside of cafes?   On the old Babel site, Archer Street opens next month.  It promises "an experimental cocktail bars with live music and D.J's"....
