Re: Kids Swim in SW11

I can highly recommend Dolphin Swim School and their sister club the Wimbledon Dolphins Swimming Club (WDSC) - lessons are at Wimbledon College (very easy to get to from SW11) - (or little ones in a special warm pool down in Colliers Wood). Both my kids have gone all the way through from 3 months to...

Re: Wix to become part of Belleville

Wix turned to Belleville in the summer term for some support to the Governors and Senior Leadership Team - hence why John Grove was there part time from September. Prior to this Belleville had started discussions with a number of schools in Wandsworth about forming a Multi-Academy Trust - these are ...

Re: Careers advice for young girl

Wow - I'm finding some of the characterising of local SAHMs in this thread really shocking. I do not know a single one who has reached where she is today through the strategy proposed by this young girl. All bar one had a successful, rewarding career for many years before taking the (often difficult...

Re: Wix to become part of Belleville

And I absolutely stand by my personal feeling of being excited about the prospect for the first time in years for Wix to become an outstanding school. I am always excited by improving standards that mean all pupils in the school can have a first class education. How is that inappropriate?

Re: Wix to become part of Belleville

New Keeping Children Safe in Education requirement s came into effect in Sept 2016 and appear to have been the focus for a number of Ofsted inspections in the last couple of months. If a school does not have compelling answers and evidence on how it is protecting children against radicalisation, FGM...

Re: Careers advice for young girl

So - for me this boils down to CHOICE and opportunities. I want my daughter to have the self esteem to believe she is worth investing in, to have an education that enables her to be the best she can be and achieve all she wants to so that she never feels she has to "settle". I want her yo find a par...

Re: Primary schools in Clapham

Wix is to become part of Belleville as Belleville has been selected to manage its improvement after Ofsted. Teachers and senior leaders have already begun to work closely with staff at Wix. So, by the time your child starts reception I would say by taking a place at Wix you will effectively be gaini...

Wix to become part of Belleville

Belleville has just announced that it is to become the academy sponsor for Wix following Ofsted's grading of Wix as requiring "special measures". Exciting!

Re: SW11/SW8 Primary Schools - Question

Belleville took an extra reception class this year which made it much easier to get a place - they have space at meteor so may well do the same next year - watch this space. Wix are now working in close partnership with Belleville - e.g. Sharing the executive Headteacher (John Grove) so I think it's...

Re: High Needs

So sorry to hear this - I feel for you guys. I am reluctant to offer any advice without first understanding if your little one has had a full medical investigation to rule out gastric problems, allergies/intolerances etc. In my experience these can often be missed/under-appreciated by busy GPs so I ...

Re: Mobile Phone Carrier Nightingale Triangle

If it's is signal connectivity from home that you are mostly concerned about all the major networks sell a wifi-based signal booster - best £50 we ever spent. We are with avodafone and never have any problem now we have the booster - even from the basement.

Re: Money for "me time"?

Have a read of this - http://www.weareglory.com/blog/fathers-you-cant-afford-a-stay-at-home-mom in my way of thinking - your lives are so intertwined with a shared household and two children that there really isn't your money and his money - you enable him to go out to work and he supports you. Just...

Re: Daughter's 16th Birthday venue help!

For what it's worth I'll share some recent experience - despite very strict rules on no alcohol at a recent 15th birthday I found 1) children "pre-loading" and 2) smuggling in alcohol - I found 2 0.5l bottles of vodka in the garden (empty) and 1 behind the sofa!! If they are not confident about enjo...
