Re: Stop Funding Hate

Signed! I'm sick and tired of the racist, misogynistic and sexist cr@p spouted by the daily mail. Of course everyone has the right to buy and read whatever they want, but I certainly want companies that I to date have supported (Coop, Waitrose, British Airways) to know that their funding of this bil...

Re: School Uniforms

My preference would be at the school or nearby shop where you can try things on easily and also order things at short notice. I have had many frustrations with school uniform at John Lewis - they don't always have stock and they are expensive!!

Re: wanted: ideas for exercise classes

Ah, thanks so much, these are all great ideas. I love the idea of a 7 minute workout app, I'll definitely try that. I also have a recentre not far from me (Chelsea is a little too far unfortunately), and I can see a late Pilates class which is brilliant. Thanks so much.

Re: wanted: ideas for exercise classes

That's a good idea, I'll try that. Do you know of any classes in the evenings or good venues in this area? I can't find much in the evenings (or that don't coincide with bedtime).

wanted: ideas for exercise classes

Hi everyone I'd be really grateful for some ideas for exercise classes in the evenings. I must admit, I haven't done proper exercise for years now (since before my girls were born) and am now on the wrong side of 40 and my metabolism ain't what it used to be... In other words, I'm not liking what I ...

Re: Dogs not on leads

Katherine Hepburn, I'm so sorry this happened to your daughter, it sounds really traumatic. For what it's worth, although I love dogs, living in London and working I don't feel I can have one, but I am certainly not scared of dogs nor do I hate them. But I have lived in a couple of other cities in E...

Re: We're launching a startup for parents and we'd love to know what you think!

Hi, I like the idea but not sure whether you can apply this principle to all kinds of classes. One of the nice things about the toddler/baby classes was that you got to know the teacher and other parents/carers. It would be a different thing entirely if the people that attended were different every ...

Re: Am I being selfish? Caring for husbands father?

This is a really hard one. Firstly, to answer your question: no, I don't think you're being selfish, you're just being realistic. This situation seems to come up a lot: it is just so easy for the siblings who live too far away to help, to just assume that the closest sibling should take all the resp...

Re: It's currently legal to force women to wear high heals to work.

I can vouch for Papinian's story - I have a number of ex Freshfields friends who definitely had a talk by an image consultant as trainees and were given style advice as to what to wear. I remember them laughing about the fact they were advised to wear skirts instead of trousers... Apparently the rul...

Re: MMR advice

Just out of interest, can you post more info about the Italian news LP73? There was a case in Italy maybe 3 or 4 years ago where the court ruled that the MMR vaccine caused autism but that in no way convinced me that there is a link (after all, it was just a conclusion reached by a judge, and I trus...

Re: Mums? What about dads?

There's definitely a valid point being made by Benaldo and I agree that it's worth considering some sort of rebranding. I'm member of a network targeted at parents working in the city. It used to be called 'Citymothers' and has been rebranded recently to 'Cityparents'. It is always valid to have a m...

Re: Mums? What about dads?

Benaldo - it's a really good point and something I've always noticed on this site! I am always glad to hear the dads' point of view to any debate and I think that their membership should be encouraged. I also strongly believe that women's equality in the workplace will only ever be achieved when mor...

Re: Meningitis Jab

We took our girls to the Wimbledon Park travel clinic who were great: https://www.wimbledonparktravelclinic.co.uk/vaccines.html Not BTC though, but an easy short drive. Boots have also recently announced they will be doing the vaccine: http://www.boots.com/en/Meningitis-B-Vaccination-Service_1773757...

Re: CROSS Rail 2 - Top of Honeywell Road Proposal

But our kids won't. And there is no way London will be able to cope with the increase in population without better transport links. I'm not particularly looking forward to years of disruption, traffic, building site, either, but I think we just have to accept this and move on. Obviously I am going t...
