Repointing recommendations?

We need some repointing work done on the back of our house where water is getting in when it rains at a certain speed and angle! Love old houses, but hate this kind of thing..!

Does anyone have any recommendations they're happy to pass on?

Thanks.

Re: Looking for advice on Devon holiday

We've stayed at Gitcombe Country Cottages before and absolutely loved it! There are a few houses to choose from, depending on your numbers, all set in a lovely valley with a view out to Dartmoor from the hot-tub outside the indoor pool! :D There's a wooden playground and tennis court as well as the ...

Re: Bathroom refurb recommendations (no plumbing)

Spotted this as we've just had our bathroom redone - new flooring, new paintwork on walls and tongue & groove around bath, new light fitting, blinds etc and we're really pleased. We used Pedro Veiga who we have used several times for various different decorating and small building jobs. Very reliabl...

Re: Right royally ripped-off or just out of touch?

Thanks so much for your post. Great idea to look on the CAB and interesting to read about estimates versus quotes. It's taken the wind out of my sails slightly, as it seems they may be within their rights (it was a quote, not an estimate), so we might just have to 'suck it up' this time! But what ba...

Right royally ripped-off or just out of touch?

I wanted to post to ask general opinions about a plumbing invoice we've received. When our boiler broke down a couple of weeks ago, the independent plumber we usually use couldn't come come for another 10 days, so he gave me the number of someone he knew. It was a small firm who I checked out online...

Re: Ceremony with fire in the Clapham Common wading pool?

Spotted this on Twitter and felt I should log in and let you know that it was a 'promenading' performance of Macbeth put on by Clapham's Omnibus! Friends of ours went to it who said it was brilliant. They were all given head torches to follow the players around Clapham Common. It started at WC and t...

Re: Can anyone recommend someone to make canapés etc

I would really recommend Chilli Bees Catering who did my 40th and are brilliant. I received an email from them this week about their home delivery service for Christmas and the canapes sound delicious - 100 cocktail sausages with honey and herb glaze £20, 80 mini chive blinis with smoked salmon or c...

Re: Poppies - Am I mad to try and visit them?

We went last Saturday and with news reports of all the crowds, set off early and by car (as tube shut). Easy drive south of the river and parked behind Butler's Wharf where (most) single yellows are fine on Saturday. We got there about 9am and had no trouble parking. Then a walk across Tower Bridge ...

Re: Diastasis recti-Separated abdominal muscles-help!

I had a big gap after my second and swear by Pilates. It has made a big difference over the last couple of years and the gap has really improved, as has my posture and general aches & pains which were definitely the result of no core to speak of! I would highly recommend Michelle Murray who has been...

Re: Velvet Sofa Recommendation

We have a velvet sofa from Sofa.com which we love. It's stood the test of time really well and still looks and feels great. I remember great customer service as well as a gorgeous showroom on Lots Road if you feel the need to go and take a look (although the online information is good)!

Re: Verrucas!!

I took my son to a lovely podiatrist at Re-centre on Balham High Road with a suspected corn thanks to a curly toe that we thought was rubbing... It turned out to be a verruca which she duly dealt with using some (mild) magic potion which did the trick with no need for a repeat visit. I can't remembe...

Re: Two tickets to Caro Emerald next Friday 17th

Just wanted to check there are no takers for these tickets as I'm now in touch with the box office at the O2 about a refund (the concert was moved from March to October as she was pregnant - how very NappyValley of her! - which is why we now have a clash and can't go). Do let me know today if you're...

Two tickets to Caro Emerald next Friday 17th

We have two tickets to see Caro Emerald at the O2 next Friday 17th which we can no longer use. If there's anyone out there who fancies a little bit of live pop and jazz to kick off next weekend, do let me know. The tickets cost £55 each but I'd be happy to part with them for £40 a piece. They're in ...

Re: Eaton House and Thomas's

We were in a similar position 5 years ago and reading this thread has brought it back to me! It was all a bit later back then, I think February time, and our dilemma was that our son was on the 'interviewed waiting list' (as I think they called it) which meant they needed a boy born in the same mont...
