Re: Gas lighting - emotional abuse

@Julian that did make me  But on a serious note, this is exactly what my soon to be ex-husband did/tries to do to me. It resulted in me thinking I had serious issues (a borderline personality disorder, no less!) which led to a year of therapy to realise this was happening, believe in myself aga...

Re: What shall I buy my wife for Christmas?

What a lucky wife to have such a thoughtful husband! You can buy a bespoke perfume customisation from Floris within your budget. I bought this for my sister for a milestone birthday and she loved it! I was able to join her and the whole experience was really brilliant. She now has her very own uniqu...

Re: secret behind the picture perfect marriage?

Red velvet sofas? Really?! You kind of lost me there in that I had to question if this is all actually fictional and not RL. I don't really have an opinion on what you and your husband are in to and certainly don't find it shocking - each to there own. I do find the tone rather snobby though, in a m...

Re: Noise reduction and windows

Just wanted to follow up on my previous comment... we had the shutters fitted and whilst they have helped a little with further noise reduction it wasn't really necessary as we really are still very very happy with the windows and also the after care we have received. We used Chapel Lane for the win...

Re: Help where to shop for clothes

All those previously mentioned and I would also add COS and Anthropology to the list.

I recently discovered COS and my 20 something yo colleagues told me I look 'quite trendy for a 40 something yo mum' :D - I work in graphic design (client management) so very much in the smart casual style bracket

Re: London Builders - what's missing?

I've been trying to find a building firm to remove a chimney breast for a couple of months now and so far, all firms have said the job is 'too small'... very frustrating!

So yes, I believe there is a need for the 'smaller' jobs

Chimney breast removal - builder recommendations please

Hello Wise Ones of NVN!

I would like to remove the chimney breast from an upstairs bedroom to make space for built-in wardrobes...

Please could you recommend a builder for this kind of work and if you have done this kind of work yourself, what it might roughly cost?

Thank you!

Re: Noise reduction and windows

Hello! I live on a busy main road in Battersea and recently had new sash windows fitted with acoustic glass... the noise reduction is amazing! I can't give you any technical data but to give you an idea, before the new Windows we would need to have the tv volume at around '30' to vaguely hear anythi...

Re: local celebrities

David Beckham was running around the millennium arena track last night, with his son Brooklyn... yes, that's right. DAVID BECKHAM!!!

He lifted his shirt to wipe the sweat off his face and I can confirm those 6 pack shots are definitely not photoshopped!

Re: Replacement Sash Window - Recommendations please!

A big thanks to all of you that took the trouble to respond with your recommendations and warnings! So sorry to hear of the troubles some of you experienced! We ended up having the new windows made and fitted by Chapel Lane and we are delighted with them! Patrick is a pleasure to deal with and extre...

Landscape Gardener Recommendations please

Hello! Can anyone recommend a landscape gardener/company to come and sort out the front of my house? It's not a particularly large area so we would like to maximise the space. Looking to have the hedge removed and the whole area levelled and tiled/paved. Also to fit iron railings and a gate. Many th...
