Re: Paying cleaners during lockdown

Do think you need to bear in mind that some people simply can’t afford to pay their cleaners anymore. Our income has halved in a matter of weeks and actually I quite enjoyed doing our cleaning while listening to a podcast last night so might have to accept a cleaner is a luxury we can no long afford...

Re: Husband not helping with kids despite working from home

Ha! Think yourself lucky, my husband is behaving exactly the same except I also work full time too but i am having to do all the home schooling, cleaning, cooking, laundry as well as work! As much as people say to not let him get away with it it it’s not worth the energy or upset trying to change hi...

Re: School fees for next term

Yes but I suspect you might be underestimating the number of parents that have had income drops. Anyway, it would appear the schools agree anyway as they are now all passing on discounts as yes their costs have been reduced from normal....

Re: School fees for next term

Running mummy I think you might be missing the point that it’s not just the odd person but an enormous amount of people have gone from being comfortably able to afford school fees to seeing their income completely disappear overnight. No-one could have foreseen that and a huge majority at private ca...

Re: School fees for next term

‘Astounded’ you might be surprised that some people send their children to boarding school because they went themselves and absolutely loved it or because their children really really want to go. A lot of parents I know really don’t want to send their kids but after much pleading from their kids hav...

Re: School fees for next term

But there are definitely lots of teachers who can be furloughed - essential subjects no but there are plenty of subjects that just can’t be done online and plenty of roles that can be furloughed. Every business is in the same situation and no reason why schools shouldn’t furlough where they can and ...

Indoor and outdoor area to hire?

Does anyone know of anywhere that you can hire with a combined indoor and outdoor area for a summer party that might end quite late that can host at least 100?!!!

Re: Babysitting lodger

It sounds like there are lots of solutions which is great but just so you know our au pairs eat with the children and then very much keep to themselves in the evenings so very similar to what you are describing. They do pick up the kids after school and cook their tea though!

Re: How I’m voting to Labour to Remain in Battersea and why I’ve done a tactical vote swap to help the Lib Dems.

Indeed, we’re allowed those every four years! The only conclusion you can come to with all the opposition to a second referendum by Brexiteers is they think it might not have the same result so therefore they are also thinking that maybe now we know all the facts people don’t think it’s such a good ...

Re: How I’m voting to Labour to Remain in Battersea and why I’ve done a tactical vote swap to help the Lib Dems.

It’s not a matter of a ‘wrong’ and ‘right’ result, it’s a matter of an informed decision and an uninformed decision. We now have all the facts, if it’s still the ‘will of the people’ then we will get the same result and so be it, at least we then know it is definitely the will of the now informed pe...

Re: How I’m voting to Labour to Remain in Battersea and why I’ve done a tactical vote swap to help the Lib Dems.

I completely agree. To never be allowed to change your mind, even four years later and with the full information you didn’t have before is in my mind the undemocratic option. Since when is voting again undemocratic? Simoly ignoring the result would be, giving another vote to make sure people are cer...

Hi
That’s exactly what our au pair does so interested to know why you wouldn’t classify it as an au pair position?
