Re: How do you get your builder to come back and fix their mistakes?

Before you go through the stress of all this - perhaps get the advice of an electrician. They will cost circa £50 for a call out and then be able to tell you what is necessary. Balham Electricial Services are decent for low cost call outs.

Re: Tips for planning a side return extension

We've just completed a side and back extension - and love it, we now spend most of our time in it! With regard to planning, there's quite a lot to think of - here's an 'off-the-top-of-my-head' list of things that I was ignorant to going into the process. Don't let it put you off though :) - If you c...

Hi, We’re selling a great 65inch Panasonic TV. Was £5k new however it’s too big for us now! We moved house and somehow lost the power cable along the way - you can pick one up on Amazon pretty cheaply (link below). An unused wall mount is included as is the remote. You can see the exact model on the...

Refreshingly simple, green and cheap(er) energy company recommendation

Hi all, Not sure if this has been posted before but thought I'd share an energy supplier that I've actually had a pleasant experience with! They're called Bulb; they're green and around 15-20% cheaper than my previously quite cheap Sainsbury's Energy tariff. I pay around £85/month for 3 people livin...

Re: Moths and wool carpets

We have the same problem right now. I'm currently going down the 'cheaper' route rather than the suggested replace carpets. I've placed pads down (see link below) and they're collecting the moths really quickly and effectively. I've also sprayed the carpets with the spray below. Going to spray again...

Re: References for a CV

Not been in the same boat, but I'd just be honest and up front about your time out of work (it's not uncommon!). I wouldn't fret about the references part - if a company likes you, and has made you an offer (they don't check references until after you accept), then the chances are they know the deal...

Don't have time to work on digital marketing?

Hi, No idea where to get started with Google Adwords, display ads, SEO or website 'stuff'? I love getting involved in projects on the side of my day job and I've got some free time coming up in evening and weekends, so if you're struggling with anything that comes under the digital marketing umbrell...

Re: Chimneybreast removal upstairs

I’d say this would devalue your property. Traditional fittings are part of what gives a Victorian conversion the allure over new build flats when it comes to selling. Avoid, or ask for financial compensation (they’re making your fireplace non-usable). If you put it to them like this, they can’t real...

Carpenter recommendation please - outdoor cat space

We're looking to build a small outdoor space for our cats. Any recommendations for a good value carpenter who'd like around a days work, would be much appreciated!

Re: Typical cost of side/rear extension?

We’ve literally just moved back in after ours. We’re very happy with it and it does change the dynamic of the house! Ours (mid sized Balham terraced house) came in at about £100k - that’s all in. Be mindful of costs like moving of boiler, moving of gas metres, skip licences, the garden getting trash...

Re: Garden / house rubbish clearance

I recently use Clearabee and found them good value and considerate to not damage my property when carrying rubbish through from the garden.. They don’t take paint can with paint in though, I think morning this is normal.

Your help is needed please!

Hi, I'm at the early stages of a business idea and I'm doing a bit of market research to see if it's a worthwhile idea. If I think it is, I'd run a trial in the Clapham / Balham / Wandsworth area, so would really value your input! It should take you less than 5 minutes, and all answers are of course...
