Locksmith recommendation needed!

Does anyone have a recommendation for a locksmith in the area? I don't need it urgently - so hoping to save money and not be stung by the 'emergency call-out charge'!

Re: Glass Roof Suppliers - Recomendations

Our builder used Balham Glass and Joinery for something similar. I’m happy with the results a year later.

Room available in quiet Balham house

Hi, Don't usually post self-benefiting stuff here, but we have a spare room in our house, so if you know a mature student or a professional looking for a quiet place for a year or so, pass them this link or my email address please! Thanks,...

Re: Recommendations for GP practice?

I've used GP at Hand, a free NHS service. Really impressed with it - had an appointment on Sunday evening at 5pm, and was referred to a specialist within 12 hours.

Re: Cupboards for loft conversion bedroom - recommendations/advice please

Hi, I've recommended Olly on another post recently so copying and pasting from that, hope it helps: I've been meaning to put a post up here to recommend Olly, who built a bespoke outdoor cat space for us about 2 months ago. A skilled carpenter, whose bread and butter is cabinets, cupboards etc, but ...

Re: Carpenter / joiner - shelving

I've been meaning to put a post up here to recommend Olly, who built a bespoke outdoor cat space for us about 2 months ago. A skilled carpenter, whose bread and butter is cabinets etc, but very adaptable.  We had a quote before he came round that was two and half times as much as Olly quoted. Just b...

Re: Wife refuses to stop spending so much - help

How about going to see an accountant together? You can paint it as 'retirement planning' - say that 'everyone at work is doing it' or something. Ask the accountant to suggest what you'd both need to save for your desired pension per year. In this case perhaps go higher than you would've previously s...

Re: How do you get your builder to come back and fix their mistakes?

Before you go through the stress of all this - perhaps get the advice of an electrician. They will cost circa £50 for a call out and then be able to tell you what is necessary. Balham Electricial Services are decent for low cost call outs.

Re: Tips for planning a side return extension

We've just completed a side and back extension - and love it, we now spend most of our time in it! With regard to planning, there's quite a lot to think of - here's an 'off-the-top-of-my-head' list of things that I was ignorant to going into the process. Don't let it put you off though :) - If you c...

Refreshingly simple, green and cheap(er) energy company recommendation

Hi all, Not sure if this has been posted before but thought I'd share an energy supplier that I've actually had a pleasant experience with! They're called Bulb; they're green and around 15-20% cheaper than my previously quite cheap Sainsbury's Energy tariff. I pay around £85/month for 3 people livin...

Re: Moths and wool carpets

We have the same problem right now. I'm currently going down the 'cheaper' route rather than the suggested replace carpets. I've placed pads down (see link below) and they're collecting the moths really quickly and effectively. I've also sprayed the carpets with the spray below. Going to spray again...

Re: References for a CV

Not been in the same boat, but I'd just be honest and up front about your time out of work (it's not uncommon!). I wouldn't fret about the references part - if a company likes you, and has made you an offer (they don't check references until after you accept), then the chances are they know the deal...
