Re: Councils condemned for 'shameful' rebranding of Black History Month

The controversy continues! The BBC online have now covered this too. Even though the decision was made by Wandsworth Council back in 2014, I think it was the wrong decision to make. I think it's disgraceful that our kids don't learn about black history in our schools. I don't think I really knew abo...

Re: Pregnancy gift

Have a look at https://www.dontbuyherflowers.com/ This company originally started as alternative gifts for new mums (other than flowers) but has branched out into care packages for anyone who needs a bit of TLC. I would be happy to receive anything from here... just need to find a friend like you! 😃 😉

Have you considered Lyon? You can get cheap Easy Jet flights from Gatwick.

Re: School toilet policy

Gosh this is really tough. I think that young kids are naturally curious so I'm less concerned about that, but it's the part where this particular child is being manipulative. It may be that he/she is being told the same thing by a predator, or it may be that this kid is quite forceful and bordering...

Re: WANTED: ISLA BIKE CNOC 14 for a BOY

I haven't got one but I recently went through this process. Do you know that there is a group on Facebook called Preowned Islabikes for sale. It might be worth joining it if you haven't already as a the one you want might come up for sale!

Re: Beware door step sales/ hawker

Thanks TrecleBell. We get ex convicts selling cleaning products on my road. They are never aggressive and don't seem perturbed if I say I don't want anything or have no cash. Sometimes I buy stuff and sometimes I don't. But you are right to flag this as we always get people at our door even though I...

Re: Nanny and kids interaction in parks/playgrounds

I think you are absolutely right to be concerned. You can't spend excessive amounts of time on the phone in any job and certainly not in a job where you are supposed to be looking after and engaging with kids. Having said that the scratch could have happened whether she was on the phone or not so I ...

Re: Antenatal Pilates or fitness classes recommendations

Try Lon Gibbons http://longibbons.com/ She used to run classes in Battersea but it looks like she is focusing on Earlsfield and Wimbledon now. Is that too far? I did her mum and baby class which was brilliant, but she also does pregnancy yoga.

Re: Party venue ideas for 3 year old

Another great one for anyone coming back to this thread for ideas is the Adventure Zone at the Wandle Recreation Centre, Mapleton Road, next to the Southside Centre. There is a private soft play area. You just need to bring your own food. I've had a few parties there and the kids always love it. You...

Re: carpenter/ handy man

If you go to the search icon - the magnifying glass on the top right of this page and search for Handy man, loads of people have commented on this and have recommended people they use. I just did the same search - you can then take your pick!

Re: Local web designer/social media expert

Hi Kerryb, I completed the Digital Mums social media management training last year. It is an intensive course that trains mums to do this kind of work. It's really tough and clients know when they have a digital mum doing their social media, they'll get the job done well. I'm not a web designer and ...

Re: Primary Schools Clapham/Wandsworth

I'd agree with Spenner and Flowermummy. The primary schools in this area are excellent. We sent our son to private primary and then switched to state after a year and a term because he got into the school we wanted him to go to. Many parents, who privately educate their kids, warned me that it will ...

Re: Good electrician recommendations!

I always use Aviss Electrical Services Ltd - http://aviss.co.uk/

I've been using them for about 8 years now and they have always been reliable, show up on time, call before they come and are very clear on their prices, plus the job gets done well.

Re: Aircraft Noise

Oh god. I grew up on the flight path and quite close to the airport so we used to play games to guess which airlines were flying over our house as kids. I guess you could say I am used to aircraft noise, but this is way too much. As I am typing now I have heard 4 planes overhead. Is that even possib...

Re: Save Balham Bowling Green: Planning Objection

I've just spotted this headline,  "Green light for townhouse development on Balham Bowls Club site" in a journal of luxury property. The piece says that a  28-unit scheme has been designed to recreate a traditional Victorian square. Here's the link: https://primeresi.com/green-light-for-townhouse-de...
