Re: Only afford to send one to private school

Actually Goldhawk makes a very good point. Everyone is talking about our own personal experiences when we were young but none of our parents had to pay Uni fees. If you can only afford for one to go private does that mean you can only potentially afford for 1 to go to Uni? If that is the case then I...

Re: Only afford to send one to private school

My best friend experienced this. Her parents paid for her younger brother to go to an independent secondary and she went to the local comp. for much the same reasons you describe. Her brother was considered more academic and would get more out of it etc etc. It did so much damage. My friend is very ...

Re: Anyone tried this nanny alternative?

I think it’s a great concept. Does anyone know which schools they pick up from? My concern is that it’ll only be ones in and around Chelsea

Re: Paying for childcare cash in hand - what's the view?

It's not fair on the nanny but what can she do? She can either take the job or not. As you said, there are plenty of other nannies willing to do this, especially nannies non-UK nationals who are not planning on staying in the UK long term and therefore do not care about their tax earnings and pensio...

Re: Au pair’s food costs

I think you’re over thinking it and so getting your knickers in a twist. Why don’t you just say help yourself to anything in the fridge and cupboards and buy enough of everything to account for another adult in the house. Also say to her that she needs to be respectful that everyone is sharing this ...

Re: Gordon Ramsey

I think it's quite weird and intrusive to track him down at his home address tbh. Guy, I also think that if you have a business relationship with him then it's inappropriate for you to offer to do this on a public forum. I would think twice about retaining your services if I was GR. One bit ...

Re: Nanny plus one

If she has been with you for a few years, i.e. since your children were babies and they love her and are very settled with her then I wouldn't touch her pay or even mention it! Finding a great nanny who fits in with your family life and who your children love to be with is so so so hard and just not...

Re: ****** Addiction

I would absolutely tell your solicitor as they need to know the cause of the breakdown of the marriage but I wouldn’t tell family/friends for everyone’s sake. It will certainly not improve relations with your family, friends or ex and will probably only result in your ex being more difficult on the ...

Re: A shave between the legs between the Commons

Most beauty salons will do men’s waxing, it’s quite common now for men to be groomed op or no op.

I have a mobile beautician who comes to the house and she has several male clients. Let me know if you’d like her details.

Re: My kids are ALWAYS sick

Has your eldest recently started nursery, say in September? I ask because I remember when my daughter started, we had exactly the same thing. She caught everything and brought all germs home to infect the rest of us! We were all ill all winter! If this is the case then eventually the immunity builds...

Re: Help/advice 6month old doesn't sleep through the night

I really feel for you! Firstly, you are not doing anything wrong, you have been doing the best you can for you and your baby so don’t have any self doubt! It has more than likely turned into a habit now for your baby and has probably got little to do with hunger. Just the same as when adults get stu...

Re: Lent money to Brother-in-law - not paying back - help please

Never lend money that you can’t afford to give away, especially when done informally without any written agreement, payment plan etc. That said, it’s done now, and you can afford it as it’s ‘only’ affecting holiday and new car which as you said yourself are first world problems. If I were you I woul...
