Re: yukon day nursery

I don't have first-hand experience with Yukon Day nursery, but I thought I could recommend you Lochinvar Pre-school nursery, which is very close by (Oldridge Rd, within Alderbrook school premises). We were very happy there for 2 years until my daughter started Reception. Go visit them, I'm sure you ...

Re: Real Christmas trees?

I would second Spursmummy's recommendation. We got our tree from the same place this weekend and love the richness and the density of the tree branches for what I think it's quite reasonable prices for premium trees! I've seen worse trees on Northcote Rd that are being sold as premium for higher pri...

Re: WANTED - Islabike Beinn 24

Watching with interest, as I would be interested in buying one too. Either Beinn 24 or even Beinn 20 large would do. If you have a red or pink one, even better. Thank you!

Re: Looking for architect recommendations for a loft convers

Which borough are you exactly? As if it's Lambeth, you need someone really skilled. We have applied for permission to convert the loft at our property in Balham and we got pushed back on every front so far. I hear Wandsworth might be easier.

Re: Where do you get your boots reheeled?

Try the shoe repair shop opposite Clapham South tube station. I think they are called Matthews.

Re: Decorator Needed

I recommended Dimitar Popov in the past, as I have used his services twice in the last 2 years.

I am happy to put his name and contact details forward as he did such a good job for us (07889917608 / dimi_london6@yahoo.co.uk)

Re: Any good carpet places?

Try Bowloom (on Queenstown Road) - we used them last year as they were local and had good quality and varied stock.

I also looked at Sinclair Till (on Wandsworth Road) - but only got them to quote for the same carpet make to ensure that I was not paying over the odds by going with Bowloom.

Re: Recommendations for bathroom and building work

I can recommend our builders (Vas at Pace Construction Services 07888827464) who did a very good job for us last year when we refurbished the whole house (including installing new bathrooms, new kitchen, carrying out internal structural alterations, etc.). They came up with very good advice on how t...

Re: Replace glass in cracked window - recommendation please

Try Jamie - at Good News Glazing 07939435452. Family business, not a lot of overheads like others, usually much cheaper than Balham Glass and quicker turnaround.

Re: Kitchens

Try Kitchen Koncepts on Balham High Road, we got our Schuller kitchen from there, but they also stock other UK and German brands to suit all budgets. I found them very helpful and willing to go the extra mile to make the client happy. Depending on your budget, you can also try Eclectic Interiors on ...

Holiday ideas for October half-term

I was wondering if i can tap into the NVN collective experience for a recommendation on some nice holiday places for the October half-term break. I would love to go away somewhere nice and warm (such as Maldives, Seychelles, Mauritius, but wonder if that particular period (late October/early Novembe...
