Re: New tax free childcare scheme - how does it work?

Here is the consultation doc on the new tax free childcare scheme. While it seems much has 'been decided' I was chatting with an accountant today who cautioned that we have had an general election and the announcement of an emergency budget in July https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/upload...

Re: Harry & Mary from Harry's News

Ok I think my post was a polite question, but I appreciate some discussions can alter in direction and if my post were to cause something like that to occur it *may* detract from publicising the collection. However 1) perhaps you could have waited to see if this was the outcome of my post 2) It does...

Re: Harry & Mary from Harry's News

"Hi Cynic I hope you don't mind but I split the topic re. the collection into two parts. I think there are two separate discussions here, one of which is the increase in rent etc and the other is the collection for the couple. I don't want the two getting confused. hope you understand! Thanks&q...

Re: Socialisation advice?

Don't know your location but had same concern re our 2 yr old so I've been trying to do regular things but also think variety is nice. It's been nice watching him 'make some friends' I'm sure you are familiar with lots of the below: Toddlers world at Clapham Leisure centre is a friendly and v.cheap ...

Re: Homeopathy doesn't work!

Ooo I love a good nonsensical debate, let me wade in: 1. Huge difference between natural remedies and classical homeopathy. Many drugs are plant-derived...aspirin anyone? For example a good friend defends very positive treatment experience she had from 'homeopathy' where it turns out she was actuall...

Re: Can my daughter's friend be trusted?

As many posters have pointed out the most likely explanation here is accidental, or third party, or some random pathway that one cannot fathom. I think you recognise that, but your sixth sense' be telling you something is up. Ok so maybe your daughter's friend was aware of the phone, but if so she h...

Re: Ambulance staff attacked by woman in Nappy Valley

NVN is a hugely popular site and by drawing attention to carefully selected news stories, generally provides important and useful information to it's members. I think you can be a great public service at times and I commend you for this! e.g. Missing child or not so long ago there was a new 'style' ...

Re: Patient tested for the ebola virus at St George’s

A Local Website is being tested for panic.

The website, understood to be normally quite sensible, was admitted last night with a high click-through rate.
It was described as suffering from a feverish approach.

Re: Parents to be consulted over plans to change sibling rul

Why on earth is it so objectionable that if you move away from the local area of a school (because you 'have to/ want to/ choose to') that your child may have to (wish to?) also move schools. Also all this talk of dropping siblings at two different schools, well again that's pretty much a choice isn...

Re: Belleville bid to open New School

Also let me remind all: the original on-site Belleville expansion plan that was thrown out by Belleville parents (back in, was it 2009?) would have cost approx £6m Refurbing the Meteor st school site cost about £2.2m and then there's that £960k received for the caretaker's site, so overall that cost...

Re: Belleville bid to open New School

Speaking as a resident nearby the Meteor site: The site of the old caretakers house for the old Vines school on Forthbridge Road was sold to developers by our smart-thinking council. The decent parcel of land was sold in by wandsworth council in 2011/2012 for £960k. It now has 2 four bed houses (£1....
