Looking for a private drama tutor or student to work with my children

I would like to find a drama tutor or student willing to work with my 13 year old son to prepare him for his LAMDA drama exams in the coming weeks.  No tutoring agencies or drama companies please, just individuals.  I can supply the syllabus guidelines for the tutor or student to follow so no need t...

Re: New rules

Erm, hard to predict where things will be at Christmas but I think by then we'll be doing well to avoid a lockdown!  It looks unlikely there will be a vaccine before then and we are heading into winter.  Christmas is traditionally a time when flu spreads as familiies get together so presumably there...

side return extension question

We are planning a side return extension where our neighbours have already built a wall to their side return up to the boundary (but not accross it).  If we have to build a wall alongside theirs how do we excavate next to their foundations?  Is it normal to expose the neighbouring foundations down to...

Belleville v Thomas’s in first few years

I wandered if anyone can give me some insight in how these two schools compare in the lower years academically, eapecially for Maths and English pkease?  We have the lucky choice of these two schools and trying to choose!  I think both offer quite a lot of extrcurrucular but ultimately we will aim f...

Re: 'Covid calculator' says Wandsworth has a 45% hotspot risk

I am somewhat worried about the lax 'track and trace' rules  With children back in school it will tighten up a bit since they can't go to school with a continuous cough without getting a negative test result.  However, I have seen people breaking the rules where it can't be so easily monitored (e.g....

Return of reception and Yr 1 classes in June : what is the teaching and timetable going to be in local schools?

I wanted to find out what the local schools have planned for children returning in Reception and Year 1 in terms of teaching format/hours etc as I am curious to know if they are all doing the same or to see how my child’s school compares.  I am interested to know if schools are offering full-time or...

Re: School fees for next term

Teachers at my child’s school arent doing much for the reception children.  I dont blame the teachers though, I blame the school proprietors.  We won’t be shipping our reception child off to boarding school.  What a ridiculous, irrelevant response to my comment.  We face hardships like everyone else...

Re: School fees for next term

If the provision is not what was stipulated in the contract are they in breach of contract?  Or can you invoke the Force Majeur clause and withhold payment until such time as they can fulfill their side of the contract?  I would love to know what a lawyer thinks?  We have a child in reception at a l...

Re: School fees for next term

An unlimited company doesn't file accounts at companies house so the finances are secret.  However, judging by other private preps in the area a sizeable profit is likely not to mention substantial accumulated wealth over the years from the profits from the school.  Everyone else is having to tighte...

Re: Thomas's prep school to take pupils up to 18 after surge in applications

I am a parent at one of the schools.  Judging by the information given so far by the school it would be open to children from all the Thomas's schools.  It is unlikely there would be an exam in the near future, but if it becomes very competitive and oversubscribed then, like many other schools in a ...

Re: Neighbour throwing chocolates over the fence for dog to find

I would be surprised if he didn't know what he was doing.  Noone just throws chocolates over a fence without a reason do they?  However, the problem is unless you appease him it is going to be hard to keep your dog safe (wrong though his behaviour may be).  I would definitely try to talk to him agai...

Re: New partner is overly strict with his son

Yes, I agree that you need to speak to him.  If he is like this now how may things develop in the future for you and your own children as he gets more settled in the relationship?  As for his poor little boy, it must be hard enough for him as it is having to integrate into a new family set up withou...

Re: How do you get your builder to come back and fix their mistakes?

Oh, and try to get three quotes to fix the work before you go ahead because if you only have one quote the original builders may try to argue you could have got it done more cheaply!
